Cinderella Meets Crazy Rich Asians 🤺

I enjoyed the first book, so it was nice to see Dallas and Romeo again. This story was just as ridiculous and OTT, but the FMC, Farrow, was funny, intelligent, and strong! She challenged and outshined the MMC, Zach, who should've used his advice to his mom about seeing a therapist. The ending dragged on, but the point about a modern Cinderella meets Crazy Rich Asians kept me interested.

A wonderfully clever and engaging listen

I have listened to all of L.J. Shen’s books. The collaboration of Shen and Huntington’s writing has added a vivid and quirky dynamic to this romance story. I had not heard either narrators before and they were outstanding! Love, love, loved it!

My Dark Desire… Perfection

The audiobook to end a book slump! I haven’t listened to the first book in this series (which I plan to rectify that very soon) so this can totally be read as a standalone. These two broken souls find each other and through some awkward situations find themselves again and the love they grow between each other is amazing. I absolutely loved this book and can’t wait to listen to the first as well and the next when it comes out. An enchanting story from beginning to end that you will not regret listening to!

Loved the Cinderella concept

This was a lovely story about being broken but also about strength. I loved the strong but playful character’s.

Great Listen

I was gifted the paperback but ended up getting the audio. I love this series. I hope Oly is next. The romance and their text chain had me giggling.

Favorite read in a long time

I love the sass of the FMC in this book and there is so much witty banter. I love the story line even if it is a little dark twisted version of Cinderella. Slow burn. Great love story. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌶️🌶️

Absolutely Blown Away by this Cinderella Retelling

My Dark Desire blew me away. This story is an absolute stand out of the year for me. In a true Cinderella Story retelling, Zach meets his perfect match in Farrow when he catches her attempting to steal her late father's prized pendant from his private collection. In the aftermath the two form an unlikely agreement: he will pay for the best lawyers money can by to prove her stepmother forged her father's will and she will teach him how to tolerate human touch.

This story was incredibly unique, quirky, and downright phenomenal. Zach is one of the most unique MMC's I have ever read. L.J. Shen and Parker S. Huntington created so many layers in his character from his billionaire persona to his trauma and PTSD. He was truly a favorite all time MMC for me.

While this was a Cinderella story retelling Farrow was no damsel in distress. She was strong, courageous, and fierce. She was incredibly intelligent and met Zach's intelligence perfectly. On top of all of this, she was a fencer?! how cool!

Desmond and Callie embodied Zach and Farrow beautifully and enhanced the reading experience through their performances. Five stars all around.

Fun and chaotic!

This is a modern retelling of Cinderella in which the grumpy billionaire falls for an endearing thief. After falling head over heels for the first book in the series, I was excited to read/listen to this second installment.

✨ Thoughts ✨
In simple terms, this novel is fun and chaotic. The unpredictable actions of Farrow and Zack kept me on the edge of my seat, unsure of what would happen next. While their romance was fascinating, there were moments when it spun out of control, leaving me emotionally whiplashed.

I must admit, it was difficult for me to fully connect with the main characters as their immaturity seemed to overshadow their age. I longed for the smooth banter delivered in "My Dark Romeo." The chemistry between the main characters felt somewhat contrived. Both Farrow and Zack were in desperate need of serious therapy. However, I did love the side characters who brought an enjoyable dynamic to the story, and I'm eagerly anticipating Ollie and Frankie's story!

🎧The narration was decent. I adore Callie Dalton's performance, but the male narrator didn't quite capture Zack's essence. Nevertheless, they both put in admirable effort. Overall, if you have a fondness for Cinderella retellings, this audiobook holds great potential and is well worth the experience.

Funny, Ridiculous, Sexy

I love these books. I don’t love the male narrator on this one. He sounds like Donald Trump sometimes lol. But the story is funny and sexy. I will def read/listen to the next one.
