Abigail Sutton's beloved husband walks out one night, doesn't return, and two years later is found dead, a victim of a long ago crime. It's made her sympathetic to the missing and their families. Starting her new life, Abigail moves to small town and buys a fixer-upper house left empty when old Edna Summers died. Once it was also home to Edna's younger sister, Emily, and her two children, Jenny and Christopher, who, people believe, drove away one night, thirty years ago, and just never came back.

Pretty good
I enjoyed this mystery but I had a couple of problems. First, the author should have gotten a professional narrator. There were several times when words or phrases were repeated. Second, Maggie is a a bit annoying and doesn't make good decisions. Everything works out for her because it's a book. But, in the real world, Maggie's stubbornness would have not worked in her favor. Overall, the plot is interesting and I look forward to another book by this author.

Light Mystery for casual reading
“Murder in the South of France” This is not like the TV Mini Series “Murder in Provence” although it is from the same series (BK-3). Somewhat disappointed and Maggie is a bit tedious as the main character in the book. It is a light murder mystery and not a dark read. It is not of the caliber of Deborah Crombie’s Duncan Kincaid/Gemma James mysteries or Maurizio de Giovanni’s Commissario Ricciardi mysteries but entertaining enough to complete. Experienced as an Audio Book.

Not sure how I feel
Parts of this story were so unbelievable that it distracted from the story, overall. Mainly, the boyfriend is a world class conman -- that's his actual career, but he never really repents , the main character is upset with all of his VERY significant deceptions, but he's cute and has a French accent, so, never mind! Also, their romance is a major component of the story, and I prefer a good old cozy MYSTERY.

She's expecting an influx of tourists at Mac's Bikes; instead she discovers the body of Jake Lacey. Mac can't imagine anyone stabbing the down-on-his-luck handyman. Story
Anna is distraught when her beloved mother, Ines, passes away. She inherits a box of papers, handwritten in Italian and yellowed with age, and a tantalizing promise that the truth about what happened during the war lies within. The diaries lead Anna to the small village of Rofelle, where she slowly starts to heal as she explores sun-kissed olive groves, and pieces together her mother’s past: happy days spent herding sheep across Tuscan meadows cruelly interrupted when World War Two erupted and the Nazis arrived....
