Murder 1040: The Final Audit by Fred Lichtennberg was a good read. Frank Amato is a retiring IRS manager who is brought back to a time he wanted to forget. When he went home he reread his manuscript he never published. This manuscript was based on his life and the pain he has been through.

Not a dry accountant story

I never thought I would root for the IRS but the author created such a suspenseful story with fascinating - and at times juvenile- characters and plot twists that I couldn't stop hoping that Amado would have a happy retirement.

Though I received this book as a gift from the author I submit this unbiased review and hope to be able to purchase more from him in the future... the epilogue does provide this possibility:)

Captivating!

The twists keep on coming as Frank Amato peels away the layers of a bribery scheme to find the murderer of an IRS agent. He keeps you riveted through twists, turns and intrigues. A definite must read.
