Publisher's summary

Already a number-one London Sunday Times best seller, Mud, Sweat, and Tears is the adrenaline-fueled autobiography of the mega-popular star of the hit survival series Man vs. Wild, adventurer Bear Grylls. A former British Special Forces commando, a man who has always sought the ultimate in dangerous challenges, Bear's true story reads like an outdoors action-and-adventure novel. But Bear's story is true - full of breathtaking escapes and remarkable exploits that would make any Jack London or H. Ryder Haggard hero proud.

Corny, but Fun

Any additional comments?

Much like any of Bear Grylls TV shows, this book is a bit gung-ho, corny, but irrepressibly fun.

I enjoyed the stories about his military training and I think it is full of good life-advice for younger listeners. He manages references to his religious beliefs tastefully - it is an account of his life so it should play a prominent role in his story, but is not preachy or overbearing.

The most annoying thing about the book was that at the end of every chapter there is a one liner that is meant to summarize the theme or add punch. As I got further in to the book I started to anticipate them and enjoy their oversimplifying corniness. And by the end of the book it became hilarious.

Definitely recommended for Bear fans, people interested in a military career and young people who want some life advice from someone who has done well for himself.

What a story!!!

So much detail into not only his childhood but even his lineage. He honors the family before him and honors his family in front of him. So funny and you feel like you're on the adventure with him.

Amazing!! I already want to start it again!

Brilliant and absolutely inspiring! A very good performance, only way it could have been better is if Bear read it himself! Amazing life!

I want more Bear

Where does Mud, Sweat, and Tears rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This was a pretty easy listen. The narrator's accent let me fool myself into believing it was Bear telling me his story directly. I have to say it was probably middle of the pack.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I really enjoyed hearing of Bear's conquests and challenges he overcame. It is very inspiring and makes me want to go out and do something amazing! I just wish it covered more. So much detail into some parts and others were skimmed over.

Informative, motivational and inspiring.

Mud, Sweat, and Tears digs so much deeper into the psyche of Bear Grylls than television shows can ever reveal. Beginning with his inspiring ancestors and then journeying with Bear from childhood adventures to his tough military career you learn what trials forged the world-renowned survivalist. Then he takes you from his lowest point in life straight to his highest. His writing style draws you in to every new test Bear encounters along his path towards fulfillment in life. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to make a life change, aspiring adventurers, or anyone needing a reminder of what true dedication and endless perseverance can accomplish.
