Publisher's summary

Harness the "power of can't" to make your big, impossible dreams a reality with help from a creative entrepreneur who's turned her quirky passion into a global force.

People always ask Shelley Brander what possessed her to leave the successful advertising firm she founded with her husband to open a local yarn store. And then they wonder how that one storefront grew into an e-commerce business, and from there into a global movement to Knit the World Together. In Move the Needle, Shelley shares stories from her life to show that you can pursue your life's passions - both personal and professional - no matter how quirky or impossible they may seem to everyone around you.

Whether you are an entrenched or aspiring entrepreneur or have a passion that just won't let you go, Shelley shares lessons from her journey that reveal how to:

  • Put your passion first and make your creative side hustle your main gig
  • Recognize the true value of creativity and experimentation
  • Have hope against all odds
  • Surround yourself with supportive people
  • Cut ties with those who weigh you down
  • Believe in the power of your weird, impossible dream!

In Move the Needle, Shelley invites you to embrace your passion and hold space for your seemingly improbable (but totally possible) goals, dreams, and purpose.

Loved, loved...LOVED.

I read between 150-400 books a year, and while many of them are very good, it has been rare for me to write a beaming 5-star review.
But this book?
DEFINITELY worth the purchase.
Brightly humorous; excellent and humane business sense; a pure delight on a number of levels.
Harvard Business School? Add this one to the top of the syllabi. :)

Who knew what knitting could do

Incredibly informative and insightful from not being ashamed of your yarn stash to taking that next stitch without being afraid. To look inward at the strength we all have and being able to create. Thank you Shelley for sharing your life - very brave.

Extraordinary!

What an engaging, informative and encouraging book. I wish something like this had been around many years ago. While my entrepreneurial days are long past, my knitting days continue and I so enjoyed knitting and listening to Shelley’s amazing journey. Thank you for taking the time to educate and inspire others.

I’m not a knitter BUT I loved this book!

This is my favorite book for online entrepreneurs! Yes! I’m not a knitter but I found Shelley journey the best way to understand how important it is today to start building your I live business in order to keep going!! And also her book is not just about business which help me move so quickly devouring it because I used weekends to listen to it, not just the normal time I use to read but all the time I normally use for entertainment books. Since this one for me was about both learning more about hobbies and learning more about business.

Thank you Shelley for creating this masterpiece. I loved it.

So interesting!!

This story gave what I needed to start knitting again. I never think of myself as a good knitter, but love the relaxing part of it. Next time I will rip out and not just put the project in the closet somewhere. Thank You. For sharing your family and your passion.
