Like most of the other titles by Mr. Redfern, this journey into the paranormal is a cracking good work of neo-Fortean journalism. This time out there's much discussion of Moth*men* and their possible connection to an impending nuclear war. Redfern is easily our era's John Keel, an unusually honest and often very funny writer who explores his weirdling subjects from every (nigh impossible) angle. I was thrilled to see the new book has been released in audio format. I love reading about Mothman but there really aren't that many high quality ebooks or audiobooks on the subject. Redfern has helped fill that void. In these pages you will encounter a veritable army of Mothmen... and they're not here to save you, baby. This book gives the bite back to the Moth, Sort of like how 1985's The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller and the 1989 Batman movie helped wipe out the pop culture silliness of the old 1960s Batman TV show. Will the Mothmen be drawn to the Final Light of civilization, a third world war nuclear Holocaust from which no human beings--or at least anything recognizable as such--will emerge? Are these evil beings harbingers of such a total catastrophe? Better not hug your Mothman plush too close, o ye of naive faith in the cryptid that Mr. R. has conscripted for service in making readers nervous. From page one the author hits the panic button, like a hip British Karl Kolchak for the 21st century. The cryptid spooks are planning nukes.
