At the age of 19, Queen Victoria's granddaughter, Princess Elizabeth of Hesse, stepped into the glittering court of the Romanovs, beginning a journey that would lead her from the shimmering ballrooms of St. Petersburg to the back streets of Moscow. Through intrigues, assassination, war and revolution, to the tragedy of her own horrific murder, she remained true to her calling to bring beauty into the world. Based on the true story of "the most beautiful princess in Europe", this novel is written in tribute to a remarkable and courageous woman.

Liked the cast of characters and hearing from their “viewpoints” which brings the humanity of these historical figures to life. A must read for a Hesse/Romanov fans alike.

Good storyline based upon historical events of a lesser known but far more influential Romanov wife.

Difficult to follow because the narrator’s style did not clearly differentiate speakers. Dialogue and narration also ran together. Someone would be talking in the story and ten words into a new narrative part, you’d realize it had changed from a speaker to plain narrative. Even though the story was good, I stopped listening because it was neither relaxing nor enjoyable.

Very Strange Annoyance
