Publisher's summary

Torn from her friends, Kitania is captured by a goddess. She can only hope that her friends have survived.

Torn from the sides of her friends by angelic magic, Kitania finds herself in the mortal world once more, among those who suspect she’s a demon assassin or spy. Though most of those suspicions quickly subside, she finds herself drawn into the elven court’s intrigue and is powerless to act against those who sent her there.

Meanwhile, Isalla and Rose are waiting for word of their lost friend, even as they begin gathering more hints of what those who betrayed them are scheming. Yet, as the two groups come closer to reuniting, the plots of their enemies are progressing, and despite their experiences they’ve underestimated the lengths to which the conspiracy will go for victory.

Unexpectedly tense, frustrating, and intriguing.

I got finished with the first story and jumped into the next. Again, I simply adore the performance. Sarah Beth Goer does a great job ensuring the story is the star. I do agree with the author's notes that it did take some time to get the angels back to Kitania, and I certainly was not happy with an elf addition to the mix. Maybe I wanted something to grow stronger between Isalla and Kitania as they have spent the most time together. Then, even with my favoritism of monogamous relationships, that Rose and Kitania would find their footing. Truthfully, I even find Isalla and Rose's relationship to me a hard one to be drawn to. The way Rose has treated Isalla is nearly the opposite of how Kitania has treated Isalla. Then for Kitania to be brought to tears over possibly losing Isalla, I wanted and possibly needed to see that relationship grow. I feel as though more complexity has been added to the story and it leaves a lot of loose ends to be resolved. With the need to advance the plot, I am not sure how the next book will handle the relationships between the characters in the mist of developing the angelic cults' motives and potentially new character arcs to read about. I am swayed by the performance and hope that the next story is in audible. However, even if it is not I surprise myself to say that I would be inclined to read the next chapter of this story. The story is so well developed that I surprised myself when I wanted to jump into the story and snatch the note that was meant for Kitania and walk it to her myself and make her read it. I look forward to the next.

good but I'm not getting book 3

because of 1 decision the writer made, I won't be listening to the rest of this series.
I don't like polygamy or infidelity in my stories. I can enjoy a 3 way relationship (if all parties love both of the others) but adding a 4th or 5th person ruins thing for me. adding to the fact that ,cheating and continuing to cheat after ''apologizing'' and I stopped being able to relate to the characters involve.

Outstanding Sequel

I love all of this authors books and eagerly await the next installment. Sarah Beth Goer once again does a fantastic job with the narration.

Better than the First

I enjoyed this book even more than I tentatively enjoyed the first. I was skeptical that it would be similar in content but it surprised me on every turn! I really wish for the next one.

Great trilogy

This trilogy is one of my comfort reads(listens?). I highly recommend it if you liked any of the other works of Benjamin Medrano.

Fantastic series so far

I loved the way this book brought up more of the relationship between the main characters and I look forward to seeing how Kitania get out of the current mess she has gotten herself into now. As for the next book I look forward to seeing how things pan out and I have already pre-ordered the next book since Mr Medrano has kindly already put up the option.

no conflict and nonsensical main character

I'm writing this 3/4 the way through the book and I won't be finishing it. As of right now nothing happens and the main character doesn't act like a person.

The last straw comes from the main character's constant whining that nobody loves her despite multiple people both in her past and in this book saying they do.

I thought this series would be a safe bet I liked everything the author has done before but this was a waste of my credits.

immature characters

The characters have the emotional intelligence of pre-teens, that’s my biggest gripe. I also felt bait and switched, because I took Isalla as my main character, mostly based on the synopsis and cover of book 1. There were a lot of small factors which wouldn’t have bothered me by themselves, but fueled my displeasure when coupled with the EQ problems. I can only feel mild disgust and contempt for beings which should be ancient and wise.
