Publisher's Summary

As another year unfolded, lifestyle blogger and mom of three Miranda Anderson realized she felt weighed down by the mass of belongings her family had been accumulating.

In an effort to pare down and cultivate a deeper sense of gratitude and abundance in their lives, she and her husband decided to embark on a minimalism challenge, where they would stop all unnecessary shopping for one year. It meant learning to use what they already had and being more creative.

"Less stuff, more adventure" became their mantra as they focused on gaining enriching family moments and seeking personal development. Life became about only choosing what truly matters and simply disregarding the rest.

With candid narrative of her experiences, insightful discussion of principles, and practical questions to answer, Miranda's journey will empower listeners to make small, impactful changes to live more intentionally and will show that whatever they have today can be more than enough.

Love this book

This book is so uplifting and motivating. I love that she emphasized spending more time, effort and money on things that really matter, like time with loved ones, instead of stuff that clutters our homes. The authors voice is fun to listen to as well. I will probably have to listen to this book at least once a year because it’s that good.

Good Message but not well done

I like the overall idea and message behind the book but she repeated her self, contradicted herself, and it wasn’t well written and needed to be edited. I did not enjoy the narration. There are so many books on minimalist lifestyles. I would recommend picking a different one.

Perfect for me in my life right now

This book came to me at the perfect time. I was already feeling overwhelmed by our stuff. We recently bought a home and have been decorating and filling it. I thought it would make our home feel more cozy and comfortable, but all it did was make me feel more overwhelmed. We were spending so much time maintaining our home and things that we didn’t have any time to enjoy each other. We are taking the challenge and I’m excited to see where we are at in a year.

Inspiring during my downsizing!

I listened to Miranda while decluttering in preparing a move to an apartment without storage. It is so much more than a book on minimalism. I have been inspiring listen to her podcast too. Thank you Miranda!

I TRIED to finish it but I couldn’t keep listening.

I liked the idea of the book but most of it was just repetitive story about the houses they built and things they bought or didn’t buy. If you are looking for action steps, advice, or encouragement on how to simplify your life, this isn’t it.

Such a GREAT read!

I loved this book so much. It gave me such practical insight on how buying less stuff (within reason) opens doors for more adventure, memories, and opportunity. I’m familiar with Miranda’s work and have listened to her on her own podcast and other podcasts before, but I still learned so much from this book. Even though this isn’t the intent of her book, we decided to do the exact same challenge Miranda did for one year. We at the end of month one and I can already see how it’s positively influenced my family. Bonus: she is super easy to listen to and loved that SHE is reading her book, not some mechanical robotic voice.

Not Overly Original

I thought this book was a well organised book and well put together, it was also very easy to listen to. The only thing is I felt many of the points although practical weren't overly original and were things that I have either thought of and tried myself over the years or maybe heard in other books. If you are new to the concept of budgeting or not spending then this book might be more help but if you have dabbled in no spending before, minimalism, budgeting or anything similar then you might not find this book the best fit.
