Publisher's summary

The nation wept when news broke of nearly three-year-old Caylee Anthony's disappearance from her home in Florida in July 2007. The search for Caylee made front-page headlines. But Casey Anthony continued to lie to law enforcement about her daughter's whereabouts, complicating their search for the truth.

Soon, Casey was the most hated person in America. This updated version of the book covers the murder trial of Caylee's mother and its unexpected outcome. The tragedy of Caylee Anthony will haunt you for years to come.

save your money

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Boy had I only known, I guess I am spoiled by all the great books and greater narrators out there, This book is not only confusing (the first half of the book spews out hundreds of dates and a HUGE amount of people you can never remember) but the narrator is obviously READING the book to you, so the characters have no personality. My kid could have put more life in this story! I am listening since I paid for it but I can't wait for it to be over!!!

What could Diane Fanning have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

BURNED IT

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Sally Blake?

Sally get YOURSELF ANOTHER JOB!!! MY 10 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER

What character would you cut from Mommy's Little Girl?

WOULD BE EASIER TO TELL YOU WHO TO KEEP

Any additional comments?

Unlistenable

This reader is horrendous! She is so montone that as soon as I started listening I thought I had accidentally changed a setting on the narration speed. I am very interested in hearing this book so I tried not to focus on the reader but it is impossible to not be distracted by her robotic way of reading. I wouldn't think it was possible to narrate a true story about the brutual killing of a toddler but somehow this unfeeling woman reads it with as much passion as I would read my grocery list. I can't believe someone hired her for this job!!

Reader Makes All The Difference

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The reader was really bad. Usually it's the reader that captures you and makes the book interesting and wanting more. This reader was too stunted, couldn't do voice changes, sounded totally uninterested in what she was reading. I will never purchase another book read by her.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I really can't say what was most interesting. After listening to Part 1 I couldn't listen any more. The reader took all the pleasure out of the experience. Very sad because there are so many great readers. This is the first time I've ever made such a complaint.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Sally Blake?

I think C.J.Critt, Gabra Zackman, Barbara Rosenbladt, really anyone, but Sally Blake.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The story was one I was really looking forward to and unfortunately because the reader was so bad I couldn't find any redeeming qualities.

Any additional comments?

How about a re-release with a more proficient reader!

AWFUL NARRATOR

Would you try another book from Diane Fanning and/or Sally Blake?

Diane? Sure. Sally? No way.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

I'm actually not done yet but I feel so passionate about the narration that I wanted to comment on it.

How could the performance have been better?

I cannot believe they didn't scrap this and start over with someone new. Most of the time the narrator sounds like a robot with a first grade education. When she is reading the dialogue of Cindy Anthony she sounds whiny and panicked no matter the context.

Did Mommy's Little Girl inspire you to do anything?

Actually, yes! Not to take away from the serious subject matter, but I have been considering becoming a narrator myself and this performance gave me a lot of confidence.

I did find I was very angry at moments and wanted to slap the stupity out of the so call mother and the grandmother of the poor baby So wronged and stripped from life. I pray for peace for the little angel.

No justice for Caylee

This story was told spot on. Living in central Florida I can say that this is a most accurate telling of the true story of the death of Caylee Anthony. May she rest in peace.

Horrible

The person who reads this book reads at a third grade level. I can barely listen to it. I’m going to use the return/exchange policy. The story is well written and the subject is interesting but the narrator is horrible.

Doesn't cover the trial

I didn't pay attention to the Casey Anthony case when it was happening. I think that made a huge difference on my perspective. I don't get it. People, including Diane Fanning, are so certain she murdered Caylee. I was expecting some downright undeniable evidence. But really, there's nothing. Casey is a liar and a theif? She kissed girls, had some sex and partied hard? That's it??? Her own grandmother hopes she rots in Hell, because of that?? ROTS IN HELL??? That, to me, just shows how out of control the media was.

This author didn't even cover the trial.15 minutes of biased opinion was included in the afterword. Had to get the book published to ride the media wave... who cares about integrity or hearing/telling the whole story??

Casey PROBABLY wasn't paying attention, Caylee died, Casey tried to call her parents, they didn't answer and she freaked out. She was probably terrified of Cindy! Terrified of the consequences. Maybe tried to stage it as a murder? Who knows? Not this author.

Final notes: Cindy's brother is a complete jerk. And the narrator was seriously not that bad!

Well written but...

Quite possibly the worst narration I've ever heard. Shame, because the author did a great job.
