To celebrate the launch of Mixed Feelings Radio Season 2, we sat down with our friends from Season 1 to discuss the complexities, intimacies, and intricacies of our names. We all have one and with it sometimes comes joy but equally, the possibility of grief. As mixed people, our names are that much more important to how we choose to identify. Many people (mixed and not) have complicated relationships with their given names. For me, it has been a traumatic point of stress at times, and an opportunity to celebrate at other times. In this solo episode, I explore my own name and the mixed feelings I have about it. We also discuss the end-of-season round table coming in the fall.

In the final conversation of the season, I talk all things "Fatherhood" with my friend & new father Greg. With complicated relationships with our fathers comes many mixed feelings. This episode covers topics we've discussed throughout the season: representation, being an undercover POC, the masculinization of black men, and everything in between. When we think about fathers, we sometimes think of the ones we had (or didn't), the ones we hope to be, or hoped we had, and the ones that come into our lives in unexpected ways. In this episode, Jon and I discuss some of the stereotypes he faces as a Black man. We chat about the ways in which his mixed identity is complicated by his relationship with his father, the way he walks through the world as a black man but sometimes identifies as otherwise, the sexualization of black men and how that came to be, and the ways we protect ourselves when it comes to the how we even handle our mixed feelings. What does it mean to be white-passing? What does it feel like? Where does cultural confidence come from? How do you feel about your appearance?
