Publisher's Summary

When Rowan’s Arctic research team pulls a strange object out of the ice in Northern Canada, things start to go wrong...very, very wrong. Rescued by a covert, black ops team, she finds herself in the powerful arms of a man with scary gold eyes. A man who vows to do everything and anything to protect her....

Dr. Rowan Schafer has learned it’s best to do things herself and not depend on anyone else. Her cold, academic parents taught her that lesson. She loves the challenge of running a research base, until the day her scientists discover the object in a retreating glacier. Under attack, Rowan finds herself fighting to survive...until the mysterious Team 52 arrives.

Former special forces Marine Lachlan Hunter’s military career ended in blood and screams, until he was recruited to lead a special team. A team tasked with a top-secret mission - to secure and safeguard pieces of powerful ancient technology. Married to his job, he’s done too much and seen too much to risk inflicting his demons on a woman. But when his team arrives in the Arctic, he uncovers both an unexplained artifact, and a young girl from his past, now all grown up. A woman who ignites emotions inside him like never before.

But as Team 52 heads back to their base in Nevada, other hostile forces are after the artifact. Rowan finds herself under attack, and as the bullets fly, Lachlan vows to protect her at all costs. But in the face of danger like they’ve never seen before, will it be enough to keep her alive.

lovely new beginning

Captivating narration.

Hunter and his team are called in when a newly discovered artifact is unearthed from arctic ice. Rowan is one of the researchers who fended off the attack and lived to tell the tale.

This is a great start to a new, but still connected, series! I loved the dynamic between the two main characters as well as the glimpses of familiar characters too. Intriguing storyline and one I'm looking forward to continuing to read.

Oh Em Gee! LOL

I’m hoping the rest of these books continue as good as this it was like seal team seven meets warehouse 13 with a romance thrown in and it all matched together wonderfully I love the style of writing and having listen to two of her other series I love the fact that her heroines are self saving and sometimes even save Their men right back

Love it

Love the story and love the narrator. Super fast listen. Stella Bloom does an awesome job on each of the characters voices so there was no confusing parts about who was talking.

Boring

The book started out incredibly exciting, but sadly it shifted and took on the same old story line. And I am not a fan of Stella Bloom. Blah.

Subject a bit odd.

I usually love sifi but the background to make this story historically fit rings a bit odd and vague. Otherwise I love the characters and the flow. The hero protected the girl and she falls in love. However her character is not real enough, reactions don’t fit. I will keep reading because the book was entertaining.

I really like Anna Hackett as an author

I have many of Anna Hackett's ebooks. I have really enjoyed them. I have a commute to work so I thought I would order the audio versions to listen to. The narrator started out okay with her reading but when it got to the first action scene and thereafter ... OMG. I really dislike giving negative reviews. Most of the time I just make no response but keep a list of the narrator so if I see the name again I won't purchase the audio version. As the action scene progressed, the narrator became computer-like in her delivery. It was irritating when it started then I began to wince and finally I couldn't deal with it anymore and shut it down. I wasted 1 credit for this audio and possibly 3 additional ones since I purchased the other available books in this series.

Ok for romance and action

I want to say I will be reading the next book. It’s a fun idea of a military unit looking and securing lost artifacts. I liked the premise of the story. It could have been really good with better editing. The bones of the story were good but honestly, too many words and repetition of names. It’s okay to use “he” and “she” once in a while.
I’m hoping since this was the first book, and we have to learn the characters, as well as the background of the into, it just took longer to dig deep into what was actually happening.

better than treasure hunter series

this listen had a bit more rationality thrown in..(Excluding the paranoral....no spoilers here)
the heroine should have been called Kat as she bloody well needed the 9 lives in full. I've never k own a heroine to get captured and/or taken...it was exhausting. not to mention the hero kept leaving her behind......silly mistake when she's marked.
fast paced, nicely hit of steam, decent pinch of angst and spot on with suspense.
Stella is awesome she can get to the tone of a male voice enough to ring true...More than what guts can do. enjoyable all round.
