"Happily Ever After" wasn't supposed to come with a do-over option. But when my husband of 20 years packs up and heads for greener pastures, and my son heads away to college, that's exactly what my midlife becomes. A do-over. This time, though, I plan to do things differently. Age is just a number, after all, and at 40 I'm ready to carve my own path. Eager for a fresh start, I make a somewhat unorthodox decision and move to a tiny town in the Sierra foothills.

Publisher's summary
To save the city, Rachel Morgan will need to show some teeth in the next Hollows novel from number one New York Times best-selling author Kim Harrison.
The new master vampire of Cincinnati has arrived...and she wants Rachel Morgan out. No matter where Rachel goes, Constance is there - threatening Rachel's allies, causing citywide chaos, and, to add insult to injury, even forcing Rachel out of her current quarters. Ever since Rachel found a way to save the souls of vampires, the old undead's longtime ascendancy has been broken. Now Constance sees eliminating Rachel as the key to consolidating her own power.
Rachel has no desire to be enthralled or killed - and she's terrified of what may become of the city if Constance forces a return to the ancient ways. But even a witch-born demon can't stand against the old undead - at least, not alone. And if Rachel refuses to claim the role of Cincinnati's master demon, the city will tear itself apart, taking her and all those who stand beside her with it.

Getting Tired of the Same Ol Same Ol
I really enjoyed this series, Rachel's continued whining notwithstanding. However, enough is enough, after this many books, all the stuff that has happened to Rachel, she still feels like the same person she was before. She really has not learned anything and if I hear any more about her weak knees to vampire pheromones I am finished with this series. None of the other demons have this problem, why does she?!?!? As a main character she isn’t growing, learning, she remains the same whining woman we saw in the first books.
Marguerite Gavin remains awesome as always!

Bumbling, Stumbling Main Character
After all of the books in this series, Rachel Morgan has gotten dumber. Unbelievable. The interesting, reluctant heroine who steps up in difficult circumstances now learns nothing, plans very poorly, is out thought in every challenging situation and only survives due to the author's creativity. Rachel always did better thinking/planning in the early books. What a sad character "development" regression. Hopefully, fixable in the next book as the world the author created and even Rachel is still interesting.

once again still my favorite book series
although I was disappointed that the story got restarted I'm actually enjoying it. I hope that there is more Al in the next book and more Ivy because it's just not the same without them. this book is definitely starting a new Arctic could go for quite a while if written correctly. I have faith in Kim and she's never let me down except for that god-awful narrator that did that one book that we shall not name keep Margaret Gavin forever don't ever substitute her again

Jumped the shark
I was so excited to hear that there were two new books to this series! But, well, they’re not good. Rachel, the main character, spends too much time making googly eyes at her boyfriend, and then turning around and lusting after vampires. It’s like the entire plot, plus add in some violent scenes. If you’re setting up some polyamory thing just go there. But what really drew the line for me is that in this book the heroine and her partner, Trent, have sex on the floor of trents exes condo while going to check on the cat. This same character who 5 minutes before calls the ex to make sure it’s ok if she goes in with her boyfriend to check on the cat then bonks him in the exes apartment? Yeah, now you’re just squeezing in a gratuitous and unneeded sex scene.
Redeeming factor is the pixie, he’s awesome as always. Otherwise, skip.

Amazing story telling!
After losing Biz's soul and pissing Al off by associating with Houdon, Rachel Morgan, the witch born demon, is back in the hot seat with yet another power hungry city official, newly appointed Master Vampire Constance. With the inderlanders being evicted left and right by Constance and her brigade, Rachel must come up with a way for all to live in harmony, or die...again.
Let me start out by saying, if you haven't read any of the books in this series I must ask, WHY NOT?! If you “claim” to be an urban fantasy lover, than get off your phone and start reading! I was on the edge of my seat, screaming, and jumping up and down throughout most of this book in excitement. I was outraged when I would pull up to work in the middle of a action scene, screaming NO as I turned my audiobook off and clocked in. I couldn't wait to get off work and hit play. I would be running to my car, lol. I haven't been this excited about a book in a long time, it was great! Jinx's hilarious comebacks and comments had me laughing, Rachel's almost underwhelming “plans” had me anxious, and that crazy psycho Constance made me angry. I wanted Rachel to best Constance in the most humiliating savage way so bad that I could taste it.
We had a new character introduced to the story, Pike. Pike is Constances right hand vamp, and such an arrogant undead. BUT, as the story went on, Pike almost appeared as if he had turned in Rachel's favor, but then would do some back stabbing stuff. The unpredictable actions of Pike was wearing on my nerves. I didn't know if he was going to be a friend or foe. Pick a side Pike! Ya, I yelled a lot in my car, lol. In the end, I don't think I have ever felt so satisfied of the outcome as I have with Million Dollar Demon. Thank you Kim Harrison for giving me a reason to read!

Honest Review
I love all of this series. I admire the way the new characters are intertwined with the old storyline, but leaving so much potential to build upon in future books. In some series after even just three books its like the same old stuff with new names, but in the Hollows no matter how many books are written I believe it will always be like I am transported back in to richly built world that Kim Harrison has created! Credit well spent!

Great book till the end.....
After the last book, which wasn't a favorite, I was really looking looking forward to this one. Right away we were back to the Rachel Morgan we know and love! the story was great. And loved the characters and jokes. Even laughed out loud a few times! BUT....... the ending was so rushed! It wasn't even a cliffhanger. It just ended! Like what is going on?!?! So that is the only reason I couldn't give it 5 stars.

Awesome storytelling!
I am so glad that Rachel and her tribe are back. Her big heart and strong sense of right and wrong get her into dangerous situations and that and her ability to think outside of the box gets her out of them.

KAZ💜😃🇬🇧 LOVE These book's ❤️😋
Really enjoyed these amazing book's they've got some awesome character's Rachel is a demon/witch Trent's an elf then there's vampire's Jinx is a pixy + lot's of other creature's you will fall in love with 💜😃 The only thing that I didn't like was Rachel is supposed to be in love with Trent but she's continually turned on by Spike who's her enemy & also a vampire 🦇 working for Constance the new baddie The ending could be better but I'll be waiting for the next 📖 Would definitely recommend this but not as a 1st book coz you should start from scratch or you'll have no idea who's who & what relevance they are in the story about the Hollow's It's a 4+ out of 5 for me 😃

Rachel Morgan a reductant boss
A new Master vampire is in the Hollows and Rachel must deal with her. This is another entry in the long running Hollows series. There is little world building. So new readers will be a bit lost with all the references to past events. The reader did a solid job bringing our fav characters to life.

A bounty hunter and a witch with serious sex appeal and an attitude, she’ll bring ’em back alive, dead...or undead.

Story
Petra Grady has known since adolescence that she has no talent for magic—and that’s never going to change. But as a sweeper first-class, she’s parlayed her rare ability to handle dross—the damaging, magical waste generated by her more talented kin’s spellwork—into a decent life working at the mages’ university. Except Grady’s relatively predictable life is about to be upended.

Every hero, even the accidental ones, has a beginning. Silas' radical theory that drafters are not replaying time as much as they are temporarily sliding into an alternate universe has never been well-received, but frankly, the darling of Opti's research has enough clout not to care until a professor with a grudge tries to put a permanent end to it.

Story
Dr. Renee Caisson knows there are worse things than an attractive man in uniform drafting her into a secret government project—especially when Major Jackson makes it clear that he isn’t bothered by her questionable past. But when her labs come back with decidedly odd results, the Major is forced to come clean over who the government is actually studying. Renee is shocked to learn her subjects are demonic-looking beings who call themselves “Neighbors”—refugees from a dying world, who arrived during the nation-wide solar eclipse.

Story
Supergenius and quasi-villain Rex normally can’t go a week without accidentally endangering Decimen City with her science shenanigans. It’s been two weeks since her genetically engineered dinosaurs rampaged through town—a good streak for her—but the peace is broken when actual villain Last Dance sets his sights on Decimen. And he wants Rex’s help. Before Rex can say “I didn’t do it,” superheroes who’ve dragged her to jail on her worst days are crowding her lab to conscript her into quasi-herodom.
