Publisher's summary
He's one human caught in a tangled maze of theft, politics, magic, and blood. In other words, it's just another night.
Benjamin Vecchio escaped a chaotic childhood and grew to adulthood under the protection and training of one of the Elemental world's most feared vampire assassins. He's traveled the world and battled immortal enemies.
But everyone has to go home sometime.
New York means new opportunities and allies for Ben and his vampire partner, Tenzin. It also means new politics and new threats. Their antiquities business is taking off, and their client list is growing. When Ben is challenged to find a painting lost since the second world war, he jumps at the chance. This job will keep him closer to home, but it might just land him in hot water with the insular clan of earth vampires who run Manhattan.
Tenzin knew the painting would be trouble before she laid eyes on it, but she can't deny the challenge intrigues her. Human laws mean little to a vampire with a few millennia behind her, and Tenzin misses the rush of taking what isn't hers.
But nothing is more dangerous than a human with half the story, and Ben and Tenzin might end up risking their reputations and their lives before they escape the Midnight Labyrinth.
Midnight Labyrinth is the first book in an all new contemporary fantasy series by Elizabeth Hunter, author of the Elemental Mysteries and the Irin Chronicles.

Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Robin Brannon was a normal wife, mom, and antique-shop owner until a brush with death turned her day-to-day life upside down. Now she and her two best friends are seeing things that belong in a fantasy novel. Ghosts. Visions. Omens of doom. Nothing that belongs in the peaceful mountain town they call home. When 80% of the population is gifted with touch magic, it’s best to keep your hands—and your lips—to yourself. Especially if you’re an ungifted serf like I am. The problem is, the most dangerous guy at Gifted Fae Academy is the one I want to touch more than anything, even as I draw the attention of the school’s most gorgeous Apprentice Fae. Knox Ashcroft. One of the so-called gods of Hatherley Hall. He's everything I despise—a spoiled, arrogant, lacrosse-playing rich boy. From the moment we met, he made it clear that the loathing was mutual. I don't belong in his world, and he wants me gone. Too bad for him. I'm not leaving until I get what I came for. Fenna Terrigan never expected to leave her seaside village. She was too quiet, too gentle, and far too kind to take on life outside of the bookshop she works at. But when her brother shows up on her doorstep begging for aid with a pirate captain hot on his tail, Fenna will do anything to protect him. Devlin Cato is the captain of a cursed ship and can step foot on land for one day every seven years. Once again, he’s found himself using it to chase a deserter across the continent. His hunt is short-lived when Fenna agrees to take on her brother’s twenty-five-year debt.

An assassin for hire, I've got skills other people don't. Blame my magical heritage and a mother who gifted me a set of knives and my first revolver not long after my sixteenth birthday. When a magical object transports me to a perilous jungle as part of a job interview, I have to admit I'm intrigued. So what if my future-seeing sister told me to avoid the stranger offering me employment. She also told me we'd end up lovers. I can see why. The Warden—real name Bane—is all kinds of sexy and grumpy and massively cursed.

Fantastic vampire story, well written and great narration.
It's great that the story is written in different POVs, so it's easier to follow different characters.

Tenzin and Ben in the Big Apple
Ben finds himself falling for a beautiful maiden in distress, one who comes with a mystery and of course something worth a lot of $$. Tenzin is there creating chaos and being the best pain-in-the-ass anyone could ask for and we love her for it.
This book is definitely a page turner or at least one that I couldn't stop listening to. There is an introduction of a new assistant in this book so we can look forward to more interesting ways this character will be used in up coming stories. I believe Ms. Hunter said there are going to be 5 Ben& Tenzin stories. I hope there will be much more. MORE Please, I love these stories!

Complex and Captivating!
This was my first Elizabeth Hunter’s book. This series is part of the Elemental World. This is the first book in the Elemental Legacy series, a Fantasy Romance. Three prequels/novellas precede this first book, and I believe it is better to read them before this one. The characters are great and intriguing. The story is intricate, and captivating. The cast of supporting characters is impressive. I loved Ben and Tenzin, and Chloe and Gavin. The world building is complex and filled with mystery and twists and turns. This is an interesting Fantasy Romance. Sean William Doyle did a good job with the narration.

Big Apple Heist!
This story is such a whirlwind! A mystery, heist, and angst vibes throughout! The author just knows how to draw the reader in and keep wanting more of the characters and story.
This story follows mostly Ben but I really came to like Tenzin a lot!! I have a soft spot for Chloe so I hope we get to see more of her too. I liked how vampires were a bit different in this book and to learn a bit more about their elemental powers was cool.
Tenzin is a fierce protector and determined to protect the innocent.
I look forward to more of Ben and Tenzin. I really enjoyed the story towards the end. It had more action, and I was a nervous wreck wondering if the team would be able to have their plan come together. It was like I was watching a movie. So good!
The narrator, Sean William Doyle did a wonderful performance portraying Ben and the secondary characters. The variety of tones and inflections used were great. It was easy to determine which character was speaking and distinguish their voices.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys, vampires, mystery, and a slow burn romance.

Keeps You Guessing Whodunit - Loaded with Humor
I love the Elemental World Elizabeth Hunter created, first in Mysteries, then in World and now in Legacy. I am a very selective reader of fantasy. Much of it is too complicated. I get so bogged down in the world building and trying to keep track of who has what kinds of special powers, I lose track of the plot. But Hunter got her World right in her very first book, she added some unique twists to widely recognizable fantasy types, didn't over complicate it, made the characters engaging and entertaining and included libraries and books as central to the plot line. And the humor.
This is the 4th story in the Ben and Tenzin line, following the conception and launch of their lost artifacts recovery business. The only possible thing that could muddy up the Elemental Legacy series is the relationship between Ben and Tenzin. Hunter seems to realize this and while there is an attraction, she is proceeding cautiously so far. Seeing them as anything more than good friends, tempting as it sounds, might just hit the wrong note. The difference between them is so vast and the fact that she knew him when he was quite young, might make a relationship hard to swallow. Not sure why I feel that way.
This was a great plot, it kept me guessing, the mystery and the planning kept me engaged. As usual, there was lots of humor. I wish some of the other characters from prior books were more involved. I really liked the introduction of Ben's high school sweetheart. Her budding friendship with Tenzin and relationship with Gavin was great. I hope she shows up in future books.
I still miss Dina Pearlman narrating these books. But Sean William Doyle does a good job.

Dang that was excellent!
Ben & Tenzin stories never fail to entertain and leave the readers/audiobook listeners begging for more. The characters are brilliantly written and the story executed perfectly. The reader/listener is provided suspense, a couple of love interests, a heist, domestic violence, vampire politics, deception that will likely leave one main character hesitant to start future relationships, and a gauranteed good read that you will wish to finish in one setting. I love Chloe & Gavin as a couple too! Awesome work! The narrator did an excellent job with providing distinct voices for each character, tone inflections, & speed of reading.

Expectations
The narrator kept interest in what is already a well written story. The romantic relationship I expected to hear more about did not occur. A small number of inferences and a very minute action scene with the main characters still left the reader questioning if a relationship would take place. Apparently this will be another series exploring relationships.
