This book was really educational about Mexican culture and folklore. I learned a lot about their traditions, history and their spiritual ways as well. The Milagros was interesting and have valuable meanings for the people.

This book is a really approachable introduction to Mexican superstitions, traditions, and milagros, especially for someone coming from the outside. It explains the “why” behind many beliefs in a way that feels respectful, not touristy, and it helped me understand how these traditions can show up in everyday life. I also appreciated the practical angle—what to say, what not to say, and how to avoid accidental offense. If you’re moving to Mexico, traveling often, or just genuinely curious, this is a useful and enjoyable read.

I picked this up before spending extended time in Mexico, and I’m glad I did. It gave real context to beliefs and customs I’d noticed but didn’t fully understand. I liked that it came from someone who’s lived it, not just studied it. The explanations felt respectful and practical, and I caught myself nodding along a lot. Since reading it, I’ve been more aware in conversations and daily interactions. It’s informative without feeling heavy or academic.

I absolutely loved this audiobook. As someone who enjoys understanding the deeper layers of people, places, and culture, Mexican Superstitions, Traditions, and Milagros was an unexpected delight. The author does a beautiful job blending personal experiences with cultural insight, making it feel like you’re being guided by a friend who has lived the learning curve herself.
What stood out most to me was how clearly and compassionately the book explains the beliefs that shape everyday life in Mexico—things locals often assume everyone just “knows.” From symbolism and healing practices to taboos, festivals, and generational traditions, there’s a depth here that goes far beyond stereotypes.
It’s both informative and heartfelt, and the stories woven throughout make the learning feel alive and meaningful. I walked away with a new appreciation for the culture, the spirituality behind everyday customs, and the importance of understanding the unseen rules that guide interactions.
Whether you’re planning a trip, building relationships, or simply curious about the world, this audiobook is eye-opening, respectful, and full of charm. Highly recommend!

It was helpful to me to understand how traditions from indigenous cultural practices were adapted, maintaining spiritual beliefs while wrapping them in acceptable mainstream Catholic packaging.
This was done in many ways, such as placing Catholic symbols alongside their traditional symbols and aligning traditional feasts and holy places with Catholic ones. The process continues today, while many of these beliefs are still practiced alongside technological and modern scientific knowledge. It was suggested that technology and modern science do not really address unfairness, the process of losing anxiety, and the basic human condition needs of healing, community, meaning, and protection. Many specific examples of superstitions woven in the fabric of modern life were interesting and illuminating.
