Publisher's summary

True crime social media sensations and citizen sleuths Mercy St. Claire and Chizzy Williams are working themselves sick trying to solve DC's numerous cold cases. Meanwhile, retired criminalist Mark Thoreau is nursing a broken heart and a bottle of bourbon, and local reporter Tohru Iwasaki is serving as the inspiration for a mystery novel.

When a child is abducted from the school that Mark's daughter attends, they all come together to investigate the case, but Mark can't take his mind off of Mercy, and Tohru might have bitten off a little more than he can chew when it comes to playing the hero detective.

Just when it looks like things can't get any more complicated, the investigation leads the team to an underground, after hours theater company, and to a ragtag cast of actors who know the art of keeping secrets.

☆☆☆☆☆ Podcaster+Journalist+Criminalist=Investigate

With a great awareness of popular culture in 2022, this addictive crime mystery series shows us, in the sophomore edition of the series, the characters are durable for a long running engaging series. With a podcaster, a criminalist and an investigative reporter all working on a school kidnapping, the story is told from varying perspectives. The audiobook is well narrated by Andrew Perez, but I could use more distinctly characterizations since the story is told from the perspective of varying characters. While I had done book one in the series, this book would look have worked as a stand alone. Loved it! Buy it!

Amazingly Exciting

Just like the first book in this series it's amazing. Keeps u on a roller coaster ride of heartbreak, terror, lust, love, passion and loss. The main character Mercy has a podcast that I wish I could listen to everyday. There r so many different characters from all directions of life, each so well written and believable. The narration is also very exciting and believable. Here I come book 3......

Another Who-Done-It

This mystery had a strange and sad twist to it. The fact Mark and Toru were blindsided causing heartache to their love lives. Mercy, Dizzy, Mark and Toru make a great sleuthing team. They were able to solve a missing person case that happened in book one. I was upset about the choice Mercy made at the end of the book. Narrator Andrew Joseph Perez did a great job.

Amazing

After the first book, I thought the author would use the same formula of who the killer was. Nope, totally wrong and didn’t see it coming again!! But, come on, why do that to my man! By the end of the book, I was a little annoyed with mercy, but maybe the author intended that to be! I can’t wait to start the third book and find out how the relationship with mercy and the professor goes!
