Publisher's Summary

What do you do if you have a message from God that makes everyone around you angry?

MiMi knows she is meant for something greater. This belief, together with tragedy, moves her from the mixed-religion home of her early childhood to Orthodox Judaism in her teens, to the establishment and development of her cult in the Israeli desert.

MiMi draws from the women in her life, in the Bible, and in other ancient texts, weaving modern and biblical dilemmas, as she shapes a truly unique place for her followers and herself. As her fame and following grow, she struggles with the attention from the press, the betrayals by some of her supporters, and the anger of her extended family. When her life and utopian community grow more turbulent and even violent, she questions her mission.

Deeply affecting and thought-provoking, Memoirs of a False Messiah is the richly told story of a young woman's struggle to find her place in a world reluctant to accept her.

Good Read

Memoirs of a False Messiah was a good read by Pamela Becker. Mimi has always known that she had a God-given gift and was meant for something greater. She grew up in a mixed religion home, but life circumstances lead her to Orthodox Judaism. She wound up establishing and developing a cult in the Israeli desert. She starts question her mission when violence enters her community. I enjoyed reading Mimi’s story.

Fascinating Workings In The Mind Of Woman Proclaimed Messiah

MiMi is in a hospital in pain and certain she is dying..but from what?
A daughter of parents who come from different religious backgrounds, he Jewish, she not..therefore his parents no longer have anything to do with him.
MiMi’s mother has mental health issues...and likely MiMi does also, with visions, high intelligence and religious beliefs.
A very difficult childhood, lost, isolation and seeking love, attention and community.
I found it a fascinating story and as the story slowly evolves we begin to see all the interesting people in her life..how people, circumstances and string religious beliefs shaped her life.
Well worth the time and listen as the narrator did a great job bring life to Mimi and those around her.
