Publisher's summary

Quaid Andrew Valor and Aslan Ronan Doyle cordially invite you to be an honorary guest as they join their lives in matrimony. The ceremony is set to take place at Strongwind Castle on December 23rd. Save the date!

Time is short. Quaid has less than three months to plan the wedding of his dreams. A wedding that happens to land two days before Christmas. Don’t be fooled. It is not a Christmas wedding—at least not if Quaid has anything to say about it.

The wedding binder is fat and the list of things that need to be done is long, so when the department decides to implement a mandatory team-building Secret Santa event that will take up every one of Quaid’s available Saturdays, he is livid. There is no time for nonsense on his tight schedule.

When Aslan sees what the stress is doing to his fiancé, he calls in the cavalry to help plan the wedding. What could possibly go wrong with Ruiz and Torin on their side?

Relationships grow deeper. Friends and family come together to celebrate. And Quaid and Aslan finally tie the knot.

**Matrimonial Merriment is the seventh book in the Valor and Doyle series. Unlike the other books, this one does not contain a mystery and is wholly focused on our two favorite detectives finally getting married. It was meant as a bonus book but somehow came in at over 100k words. Oops. More of them to love.**

Beautiful Wedding for an Amazing Couple

I Loved this series and I Love this book. Aslan Doyle and Quaid Valor are such interesting and exciting characters, I loved following their relationship start, grow, develop and come to a very merry culmination point in this book. This entire story is about a wedding event for a happy couple and some extra stuff on the side. Perfect conclusion for one of my favorite series. Narration was perfect just like in every book in this series. Highly recommend this entire series, every book is amazing.

Rollicking, Amusing, Touching…FINALLY!

I have loved this series since the first words were written. Quaid is my platonic soulmate with his neuroticism. Aslan is the guy I’d love because he tries so hard to be the best he can be. Neither man is perfect. And I think, based on the arc of the first three books, that theirs was a trilogy.

Yeah, tell that to the guys. I’m quite certain they wouldn’t leave poor Nicky alone. Demanding more stories. More time together as a couple. And, finally, their happily ever after. And this book… I’m not huge into weddings. They’re expensive, fussy, and kind of unnecessary. If you love someone and want to commit to being with them for the rest of your life, you just say so. Spending thousands of dollars to prove that love seems frivolous.

Of course, if you’re like Quaid and Aslan – with friends and family you want to share the momentous event with – then you do a thing. And what a beautiful thing it was. Nicky took 100k words to describe the most amazing wedding – and all the shenanigans it took to get to that point in the relationship. And there wasn’t even a mystery to solve! But…oh the hints. Something remained unsolved. Well, you know there’s got to be a follow-up for that, right? And a new character was introduced. I want more of him! (If you please…)

I loved everything about this book. From the non-Christmas Christmas wedding, to the setting, to the interactions with all the characters I’ve grown to know and love. Just…perfect.

If Nicky ends the series here, I’d be okay with that. If she chose to keep going, I’d love that even more. Regardless, I’ve loved these seven books – they’ve gotten me through some challenging times and I’m considering a relisten.

Finally, I have to mention Nick Russo. Nick and Nicky make magic together. I’m in love with how these productions are so perfect. Nick’s a talented narrator and he’s awesome in these books. Loved it! (okay, did I use enough exclamation points?!?!?)

Amazing!!!!

Nicky James does it again!!! I was skeptical at first only because I enjoy the mystery of each of the previous books, but like always she got me hooked. I was laughing and crying the entire book. I am happy and sad to see this wonderful series come to an end.

Matrimonial Merriment

This was absolute perfection. The entire story was just what I needed. I would love more from these characters but if that never happens, I’ll be happy in the beautiful story I experienced.

OUTSTANDING!

Nick J. Russo does an amazing job of bringing this story to life. I have been so invested in the Valor and Doyle Mysteries series from the first book. Each addition to the series only gets better and better. The growth and love between these two men is such a beautiful thing to see.
This edition focuses on the love and commitment that Quaid and Aslan have forged together. The road has not been an easy or painless one but it has brought them to their ultimate goal of marriage.
Seeing Quaid get the wedding he has always dreamed of and never thought possible is amazing.
I mean, tissue needed amazing! The vows that they spoke to each other were some of the most beautifully written words I have ever read.
Nicky James has done such a wonderful job of creating this storyline. Over the course of this series we have had the opportunity to watch these two together and as individuals. The love, tenderness and care they show each other shows in everything they do.
I hope we get a peak into their future!

A Beautiful Wedding

The perfect end to the perfect series. I loved this so much. It made me want to go back and start from the beginning all over again. Nick J. Russo is absolute perfection as Aslan and Quaid.

Think holiday novella, not crime busting.

I love this series, and have reread most of them. I gave this book 5 stars because it’s a very cute holiday story. Also because I love these characters and all of the peripheral characters that have made this series so much fun. However, the reality is that this book probably could’ve been condensed Because there’s an awful lot of fluff. there’s no great mystery here, because trying to figure out who has who for the department secret Santa, and figuring out what each person should get their secret Santa, does not count as a mystery. A tremendous amount of time is spent with the MCs as they negotiate picking wedding invitations, a wedding cake, wedding clothing, a wedding venue… You get the idea. All against a cozy Christmas backdrop. Cute but not very substantive compared to the other Valor and Doyle novels.

That said, Nicky James does dig a little deeper into some side characters, and introduces an interesting new character, so I’m hoping there’s either going to be a spin off series or at least one more book in this one, because she definitely left some loose ends dangling on purpose.

If you’re a fan of this series, go ahead and read this book. It’s charming and it’s fun to revisit such lovable characters. Don’t expect a suspenseful mystery, well, any kind of mystery at all, really, and you’ll enjoy yourself.

A love letter to the series fans

I'm typically not a huge fan of books about weddings and not much else, but Nicky James knew we fans of Valor and Doyle would be all in, and I definitely am.
A swoony, truly romantic book brought to life by Nick J Russo, who has done an incredible job of building the characters, including the ensemble cast, to the point where I imagined him narrating as I read the ebook book. it was even better than I anticipated. Torin and Ruiz steal every scene they're in, as does Barnabus.
10 stars!
