Publisher's Summary

Detective Atticus Ware gave up Idaho to start again in the California mountains, close to his imprisoned brother. Although he's found good friends, the experienced Dominant wants more than the "do me" submissives flocking around him. He needs a woman to give her heart, as well as her body.

After Virginia Cunningham exhausts herself propping up a failing relationship, she accepts a social worker job far, far away in a California prison. Invited to observe BDSM classes on a wilderness camping trip, she's shocked - her fiancé had insisted BDSM was a fabrication to sell books. But when Atticus lures her into participating, she learns submission under the hands of a powerful Dom is beyond anything she'd imagined. Nonetheless, she can't permit a relationship - she'd just lose herself again.

Finally, Atticus has found the woman he wants in his life. In his bed. In his cuffs. Only she keeps backing away. Well...if he has to help a little counselor get her head on straight, he's just the Dom for the job.

Narrator killed the story

This book was pretty decent. Not Cherise’s best work but still pretty good if it weren’t for the horrible narrator. Sorry, Paul. Romance and southern accents aren’t your thing.

Good story terrible narrator

I have all of Cherise Sinclair's audio books. I truly enjoy the stories with their mature themes. This one was very difficult to listen to because the narrator was so bad. It is the first book I have listened to of his and I will strive to avoid listening to any others. His cadence and badly timed phrasing was distracting.

Awful Narrator

The narration of this book was terrible. It completely ruined the book for me.

Enjoyable story

Overall, I enjoyed the story. I wonder if I will ever read or listen to a romance in which one or the other of the featured couple doesn't resist the relationship. Some might think it would be boring, but I'm not so sure. It would be a novelty, for one thing and the story could focus on the beauty of the developing relationship. Maybe it could give the real world some instruction on how it should be done. just a thought.

The narration was pretty aweful. The narrator's attempt at women's voices was painful to listen to and his "Dom" voice sounded more demonic than dom.

I might have waited for this to go on sale or perhaps, stuck to the written form, had I known the narrator's work.

Love

How did the narrator detract from the book?

He didn't have any emotion as he read the book. A couple of times I started to fall asleep.

Any additional comments?

I love the author and the story line of this book but the person that read it left A LOT to be desired.

Still love the story but not the reading of it

Any additional comments?

I didn't truly enjoy the narrator's reading of this story. He didn't sound like a dom at all and it was truly bothersome with the misspeaking of his liege's name as Javier and not Xavier. Still enjoyed the story but won't be listening to it as often as other of the books in the series by this author.

Hard to listen to

I love Cherise Sinclair books.

I read this story and loved it. I had to make myself get through this audible reading. I wanted to listen to the whole series so I gritted and bared it. I’m so glad this is the only read aloud by this auditor. I skipped over the scenes I just couldn’t listen to it with this voice.

Enjoyed the story, but narration was inconsistent

As always, I enjoyed Cherise Sinclair's writing, and the characters were likeable and relatable. However, I had a problem with the narration. It was uneven, and the actor's voice changed throughout for the main character, Atticus, and I could not get past that. I would have enjoyed it more with a different voice actor. I wish I had read the book in print, versus listening to it on audiobook.

One of the best, but misses a female narrator

Virginia is working in a prison where Atticus brother is a inmate. Gin and Atticus meet when she helps him demonstrate rope play one evening.
I think this was the sweetest of all of Sinclair's books. All the feelings in this book made me cry. At the same time I think this is one of the books that has the least amount of sex scenes, still I loved the book.
The author is a genius writer so I can't stop reading, the style is so light and still hold my interest with topics that are not so light all the time.
The book was exiting, fun, scary and full of emotions.
I love every one of her books and I think this is one of my favourites

Narrator:
Clear pronunciation and read with feelings, but I never got quite used to the voice and I missed the female voice.

Loved it!!!

This was the first time I had heard this audio book and I have never read the story either. To hear it brought to life by Paul Boehmer was brilliant his story telling was captivating. Cherise Sinclair always writes the most amazing stories and characters this book was no exception. Listening to Cherise's stories has become one of my favourite hobbies.

Couldn't finish

Unfortunately this is my least favorite Cherise Sinclair book. It started out not so bad but then I found that it jumped from scene to scene without a lead in. I'm an hour from finishing and I can't take the corny dramatics any more. Very OTT and for once, too long. The different narrator is a nice change and he suited the characters of the book.
