Wonderful narration and story

A great story of the struggle to achieve a dream despite all obstacles, beautifully narrated.

One of Jack Londons Best!

Detailed story telling coupled by wonderfully engaging narration. Jack London never ceases to to negate vagueness, providing the reader with so much detail you feel as though you're walking through the streets of Oakland, California with Martin Eden.

Brilliant Performance

I've been listening to a lot of George Guidall, Ben Miles and Richard Armitage lately, so the bar's set extremely high, and Edoardo Ballerini performed flawlessly. Very, very enjoyable listen.

Powerful

There are parts of the story and character— his arrogance, certain beliefs that wouldn’t go over well today— that tarnish what is otherwise a very powerful telling of the rise of an uneducated “brute” and a magnificent feat of self-education, to his writing many books, stories and poems which are for a very long stretch ignored by publishers, to finally achieving fame and renown, but only after losing the love that had motivated his flame for the majority of the book.

Powerful, potent stuff.

Great performance

The narration was excellent. I loved how they were brought to life with voice, tone and intonation. As for the story itself … it was good, but I don’t think I’d read it again.
