Publisher's Summary

John and Jenny were just beginning their life together. They were young and in love, with a perfect little house and not a care in the world. Then they brought home Marley, a wriggly yellow furball of a puppy. Life would never be the same.

Marley quickly grew into a barreling, 97-pound streamroller of a Labrador retriever. He crashed through screen doors, gouged through drywall, and stole women's undergarments. Obedience school did no good - Marley was expelled.

And yet his heart was pure. Just as Marley joyfully refused any limits on his behavior, his love and loyalty were boundless, too. A dog like no other, Marley remained steadfast, a model of devotion, even when his family was at its wits' end. Unconditional love, they would learn, comes in many forms.

The narrative makes the difference

I have this book read by both Johnny Heller and the author. It is a much better read with Johnny Heller. Great book but the way it is read makes a huge difference.

I Want A Dog now!

Originally read the book while in a cabin in NY with no TV or WiFi..I was a captured audience. Loved the book! Reread the book..loaned the book..bought more copies and gave the book as gifts. Saw the movie..movie ok..book way better! Bought the audible book but went with suggestion with this voice not author..love this audio! My coworkers loved the audio for the week we listened to it (had to listen near end of shift). Marley is my Forever Dog!

Hysterically honest

On this day I am home with my senior puppy who is losing a battle with cancer, and now kidney and liver failure. I was afraid to listen to it but am so glad I have. Knowing that others share that undeniable and indescribable love. The crazy antics of a ball of fur that takes over your heart and lives in every corner of your world. Marley's "bad behavior" just makes him more lovable. Wet kisses and slobber make him more endearing The narrator had so much expression and made you feel every word. Very emotional.

Great first time

I've never really listened to books, an avid reader I enjoy turning pages and losing myself in a good book. I got this book because it was one I've already read and thoroughly enjoyed. I wanted to see if some else narrating helped me enjoy the book more or less than if I read it myself. I have to say the narration of the book was well done and helped me visualize each event as if someone was describing it to me first hand. I enjoyed the freedom of being able to listen to it as I was driving or sitting on my patio enjoying the evening. This turned out to be such a great first time, I think I may just pick out a new book to listen to.

For everyone whose loved a dog

Humerous and touching, I laughed out loud many times with Marley's mischief! A story of a young couple's life and their dog. But it was more, Marley came alive and felt like a family member, made me love and appreciate my own dog more. Dogs have so much to give and ask so little in return. Read beautifully.

I Could Understand What They Were Going Through

So believable, if you ever had a Lab! A Lab is lovable, loyal, and goofy all at the same time. You wonder if a Lab will ever outgrow the puppy stage. I loved this book!
