Publisher's summary

After a spaceship crashes into the planet Tonath, the lone occupant survives and fights his way to the sunlit part of the planet.

When a passing freighter finds him and takes him to the Western Starshift Institute of the Way, he finds the teacher. Tonath is a planet torn apart by the forces of nature, and only the teacher can predict the movement of the stars and interpret the prophecies.

But will the teacher be able to recognize true man and true foe in time to save Tonath from a thousand years of burning?

Excellent Sci/Fi Adventure

This story opens quite well with good amount of mystery, but not so much that the listener’s intrigue is left baffled. Progression in the story line is smoothly accomplished. The ending of the story is professionally done, with a seemingly ability to flow into a sequel, but can be left as a stand alone novel. The narration was accomplished in a professional style with excellent vocal pressure.
I would recommend this audiobook for ages 12 and older due to some tense social-political situations

Interesting but fell flat

I wasn't as captivated as I thought I'd be with this story. It had such a promising premise, but I couldn't connect with the characters, and the story felt staggered and jagged (best way I can describe it). I thought the narration was pretty good, but I couldn't find a way to stay intrigued enough to keep my mind from wandering a good bit. It's possible that a physical copy would force me to pay attention more, though.

I received this free audiobook copy in exchange for an honest review.

Character driven story

Good story with solid narration. This is a very character driven story with some social commentary. There are issues with race and religion on a planet that mirrors the old west. I enjoyed it and look forward to the next one in the series!

Very Interesting... In a great way!

This was awesome. I powered through this in like 2 days. It was so interesting and very different from anything I have read before. And I read a good amount of fantasy/ Science fiction type stuff. Also, I think the books next books in the series are going to be even better. The narrator also did an amazing job. He was a perfect fit for this book. I can't wait to listen to more from these guys!

Gave it 30 days and just couldnt get through it

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. Per these terms I have 30 days to leave a review and I just couldnt finish this book. I could not connect with the characters and while the world seemed interesting, the whole setting/premise was just odd to me. I constantly found myself thinking about unrelated things and would then be brought back to the moment and have no idea what is going on. Sean Duregger does a good job with his narration but the overall story I was just not impressed with. I have been unable to finish this book within my deadline and this review is a reflection of what I have heard. If I ever get around to finishing the book I will update this review to reflect that.

More a tale of the Wild West

I was expecting sci fi. There are some aspects of it, but so far, it is basically a Western. The main character seems interesting enough, but I didn’t like him enough to listen further to a Western. They aren’t my taste, and that’s basically what this is at the two hour point.

Awesome and Intriguing!!!

I was captivated by this story from the start. The action and adventure riveted my attention…so much so, it was hard to take a break from listening. I highly recommend this book to all fans of exciting science fiction stories. The mystery and suspense of the plot was intriguing and kept me guessing as to what would happen next throughout the story. The narrator was outstanding as I had no trouble differentiating between the characters as he brought this story to life. I guarantee that once you reach the end of this story, you’ll definitely want to listen to the next book!
