Publisher's Summary

Malestrom builds on and expands previous books by Carolyn Custis James to explore the idea of manhood, a growing issue both in the wider culture and in the church. Until now the entire discussion has been largely reduced to Western conceptions. Instead James here shows how our culture's narrow definitions of manhood are upended when we consider the examples of men in the Bible and Jesus' gospel. Together they show a whole new Kingdom way of being male and forging men and women into the Blessed Alliance.

Food for thought

Read this right after The Makings of Biblical Womanhood. They pair well together. Never considered how some of the male biblical heroes literally raped and sold women and others. It’s wild.

Made me reconsider my assumptions

Carolyn has done a remarkable job of allowing me to rethink some of my long-term assumptions regarding God's view on women and men in ministry with out me over reacting.

Thought Provoking

The author provided new and relevant perspectives on old stories. It would be easy to think that there's nothing new to be learned from them but the author shows otherwise.

Worth the Read

This is worth the read/listen! Carolyn Custis James is a brilliant thinker and writer, and Christian men and women alike will benefit greatly from her fresh perspective on the contemporary gender debate today as well as on the Biblical vision for Godly men.

Patriarchal societies conflicting men is a myth

This book is honestly the toxic feministic belief that men are the oppressors and are corrupt with power (true feminism isn't toxic). As interesting as it was to learn about theologies affecting our culture and society, I was a little overwhelmed by the amount preaching in this book. I do not like to take a zealot like approach to try and understand new concepts. The philosophy of wrong or right is only perspective, but consequences are real.
