good story
I enjoyed the characters very much. The main character was a much better person than I. I would have given up on some of those people and she never did. I liked the loyalty of her. I also liked that in the last chapter she explained what happened to everyone. She didn't leave me wondering what happened to some of the people in the story.

just ugh
every character all seemed to have trauma in their history for 1 thing or another attributing to their horrible life choices (therefore their personality deficit is not their fault), and how can all the characters just be so adolescent?? I felt like I was listening to a middle school drama instead of adults ranging in ages from 25-80!
if you like neverending drama with 1 issue after another and very little character growth then you might like this one, I on the other hand cringed all the way through

weak blindly stupid main character
I don't understand, nor do I want to understand, how or even why anyone can be so blind in a relationship. If a man only comes over to have sex, not take you out...for a year...why would you think there is a future with that person. I tried to listen thinking it would get better even sped up to listen and couldn't make it past several chapters...Glad it was free. I understand it had to be free

Such a wonderful story of Love. Finding it , losing it, thinking it’s true , finding out it’s not, and reuniting. Such a great characters , backgrounds and storyline. It kept me coming back for more after I promised myself this was the last chapter, so I could get back to chores around the house.
I ended up plugging in earbuds and doing BOTH. Lol. Congratulations on a book well written.

Teenage novel
It was ok but very much a novel for teenagers. Well… back in my days teenagers.
As usual the main character is a nice person and a pushover. As usual she is so mature for her age and very stable no matter of her previous life experience. As usual there is a big love story in the end…
Performance as usual great!

Didn’t enjoy.
The story was annoyingly predictable. It was obvious what would happen long before it did and that made listening quite frustrating. There was a chapter where the main character was demanding to meet her partner’s child after dating a few months. Acting as though it was unreasonable for her not to and becoming jealous of him spending time with his child and ex partner. The whole story felt really immature. I had to stop listening two thirds of the way through. I really didn’t enjoy this audiobook at all.

Couldn't finish
Cliché, predictable story. Frustrating inept characters who react in illogical ways.
The main thing I think is a real shame is the way that the protagonist is portrayed as a frustratingly weak, neurotic, paranoid, over emotional victim. In the era we live it's a shame to still see women portrayed in this way. Very un empowering.
The narration is also poor. All men are given the same voice. I can only describe this as when children imitate a stupid person.
Got so frustrated with it all I had to stop listening.

Light fluffy and uplifting
This is a bit of a change from my usual crime thriller genre but I really enjoyed this lovely, uplifting story. I loved the character of Callie, who was someone I'd love as a friend. She obviously loves her job and really cared for the residents of the nursing home. I loved the relationship she had with Ruby, and also Rubu's relationship with Iris. And of course there's a romance for Callie.
This was a quick, fluffy listen and the narration by Lucy Brownhill was brilliant.

Sweet story marred by repeated “ stomach churning” references !
I really enjoy these easy, rather predictable reads. Great for listening to when gardening or driving as concentration is not needed. The narrator copes well with numerous characters and manages several different accents. different
I found Callie to be likeable but a little irritating at times as she questioned her thought’s and the lives of those around her.
However, the major irritation was the constant references, when something exciting happened,to the stomach churning, stomach turning over, flipping or sinking . Our heroine clearly must have a problem and needs an antacid !

Good Listening
It was good listening to the story unfold… True to reality with family and other relationship issues. Strife, acceptance , forgiveness and love were very evident in this story. ❤️

Great narrator, just very long.
Great story. Easy to listen. Just a few chapters too long, seemed a few unnecessary story lines

Explores more than just her love life
A good book and one that explores more than just one story. If you've been through abusive relationships the start is a bit rough, but she gets through it.

I enjoyed this although felt frustrated by some of the characters and their actions. seemed a bit unbelievable at times.
Well narrated and fun if you don't want anything too deep.

Story
Laurie Morgan runs a café in the small seaside community of Mermaids Point, named after the beauties rumoured to live in the waters off the top of the point. The most eye-catching of the new arrivals is Jake Smith, who has rented a cottage for the summer while he works on his new book. Or so he says. In fact, he is a journalist, burned out and disillusioned with life, whose editor has sent him on a crack-pot hunt for mermaids....
