One of the best

Simenon is one of the best mystery writers of all time, and this story is one of his best. It deals with a question of philosophy of psychology which underpins his novels. It is one of the most personally significant cases his character ever encounters.

Without doubt one of the best Maigret stories.

This is without doubt one of the best Maigret stories which holds you right from the beginning to the end. The plot and dialogue are truly exceptional and the narration, by Gareth Armstrong, could not be better. When I listen to this the only thing I add is to imagine Michael Gambon as Maigret.
