Publisher's Summary

Thor's hammer is missing again. The thunder god has a disturbing habit of misplacing his weapon - the mightiest force in the Nine Worlds. But this time the hammer isn't just lost; it has fallen into enemy hands.

If Magnus Chase and his friends can't retrieve the hammer quickly, the mortal worlds will be defenseless against an onslaught of giants. Ragnarok will begin. The Nine Worlds will burn. Unfortunately, the only person who can broker a deal for the hammer's return is the gods' worst enemy, Loki - and the price he wants is very high.

The story just doesn't hold it together

I've enjoyed the other series but this story just isn't compelling enough or makes enough sense to hold it together.

Another great addictions to the series.

I like how we get to know more about Hearthstone's background in the second volume in the series. The initial setup for the plot felt more force than Mr. Roardian's usually cleverly plotted tales, but overall, the characters were great (including the new addition to floor 19) and the jokes were funny. :) Can't wait until the next book becomes available in my country.

Amazing voice modulation....if this guy doesn't voice the sequel I'll be very disappointed..
but if they got a girl to say the female roles even better

Read too fast

It may just be me but I feel the narrator reads too fast at x1 speed, if you slow it down it's too slow. I couldn't find a happy median and so found the story rushed and not the relaxing listen that I hoped for. Although the story itself is well written and enjoyable.

Amazing

A great book full of Valkyries and a talking swords, the only thing is that the narrator changes after every book.
But other than that it was great.

Loving the series

Story was yet another great entry. I honestly love every character with my favourites being Harth and Alex.
I have to say I love the representation in these books and it's very refreshing and really adds to the characters and world.

Performance from the narrator was great too.

Culkin is a great narrator

Liked Culkin’s reading infinitely more than the guy who did the first book. As always from Riordan, this is crammed with nonstop fun and adventure, with the perfect amount of character building and sentiment

Great story

How did the narrator detract from the book?

This is the 2nd really poor narrator I have had out of my books. It really takes something from the story. He really rushes, he needs to slow down. It was annoying I don't want to listen to it as if I was speed reading. If someone is trying to make books shorter it is a bad idea.

Too fast

It is being read too fast, and if I slow it down in the settings, even by one, it sounds like a robot that is having difficulty learning English.

I miss the previous narrator

For the first part of the book I had to slow down the speed cause it was too fast for me to understand anything. It would have also been better if the narrator did an accent or anything to at least discern the characters from each other. Could have been done better.

Book is good, but the Narrator is CRAP

The book is great, love Rick Riordan's book.

BUT the NARRATOR... he is unbearble. i would rather read the book then listen to his guys voice and the way he reads the book.

He can't even pronounce the names properly.

missing portion of chapter 33

It just completely cuts off halfway through the chapter and goes on to chapter 34. I've been reading along with the physical book which is why I noticed, and couldn't find any other reviews mentioning the issue. Thought this might be important to bring up.

Loved it

Rick Riordan's stories are getting better with every book. This instalment is well written, exciting and spot-on in every respect. I particularly like the inclusion of increasingly diverse characters. Although these teens face supernatural dramas, they have their fair share of normal, teenage issues as well.

My only complaint is that the narrator spoke way too fast. I slowed it down to 0.8 and that was just about right. He also had a really annoying accent, however that is probably a personal bias - I always find American narrators difficult to listen to.
