Publisher's summary

Radcliffe Academy is one of the most prestigious magical institutions in the Hidden World. Only the most skilled witches and warlocks grace these hallowed halls.

There's just one teeny, tiny problem.

I don't belong here. At all.

First of all, I'm not a witch. I'm 100 percent grade-A, boring, bona fide human.

Second, this isn't even my life. See, I was out celebrating my 21st birthday when I fell into an open manhole. Next thing I knew, I was being rushed to a hospital, and the EMTs kept asking me if I had allergies to unicorn blood.

Oh, and everybody keeps calling me Roxie - which is definitely not my name.

There's obviously been some kind of mix-up, but I can't let anyone here know that, or I'll be in serious danger.

So, that leaves me with only one option: pretend to be this Roxie chick until I can figure out a way back to my world.

In the meantime, I have to deal with Roxie's arch enemy, who might know I'm not her, a Lothario across the hall with no sense of personal boundaries, and a teacher's assistant who's got a crush on me...er, I mean, Roxie.

No problem. I got this. Should be easy, right?

Don't answer that!

Magic Swap is the first book in the Hidden World Academy series, a medium-burn reverse harem story intended for listeners 18 and above, featuring a sassy human who's a little out of her depth and the three men who win her heart.

Human girl in a magical world

I loved this book! I think it is my favorite book by Sadie Moss. Gabbi is a human girl, living a normal life. She is in school and loves to go home to visit her family. On her 21st birthday she goes out to a bar with friends gets drunk and falls down a manhole... But she was up in a parallel universe. Gabbi learns that she has a "twin" in this new world who somehow changed places with her. She has to try to navigate a magical school with zero magic.. its a good thing there are a few men there to help her.

Honestly I loved every second of this book. I am deeply obsessed with the characters and I can't wait to find out what happens next!!

Awesome!

Okay, I think this is my new favorite by this author and I'm off to buy book 2 to find out what happens, though I really wish it was available in audio, since I love listening to Sarah Pavelec's performance. So, we have Gabi, who is having a night out with her friends from dance team, and she sees what she believes to be a manhole in the ground. Because she's not at the top of her mental game after having some drinks, she falls through it, and the next thing she knows, she's been dropped into a similar, but different, world and everyone is calling her Roxy. Gabi was a great character to read about. She doesn't give up, keeps trying to learn magic, and is so sweet and earnest that the guys can't help falling in lover with her. The guys were awesome and the story has a great mystery to keep your attention. Read this book!

Paranormal Reverse Harem

Magic Swap by Sadie Moss is a medium-burn paranormal reverse harem romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Sarah Pavelec. This is the first book in the Hidden World Academy series.

I absolutely love Sadie's books! She does a great job pulling me into the story and I can't help but binge them in one sitting. I am loving the relationship that's blooming between Gabbi, Cross, Theo, and Kasian.

The book does end on a cliffhanger but that wasn't a surprise since its the first book in the trilogy. I can't wait to dive into the next book Magic Chase so I can get more of Gabbi's story.

Sarah did an amazing job on the narration. She really knows how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of her work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you like paranormal romances, academy romances, reverse harems, or fantasy romance.

Uniquely amazing!

Wow, this book was super entertaining! It's one of my favourite listens of this year. The narrator did such a great job, especially with Theo's posh British accent. I loved the emotion she put into the intense scenes! And boy were they ever... which reminds me, please do not read this if prolific fornicating and profuse profanity offends you. Reverse harems = one female, and three or more lovers, which means at least three times the amount of sex. Got it?

Now back to the story: I have nothing but praise for Sadie Moss. I've never read any of her works before, yet she hit this one out of the ballpark for me. There's magic, parallel worlds (each with their own set of laws), switched identities, sprinkled with a mix of intrigue and mystery! The main character, dancer and college student Gabbi, literally falls into a magical wonderland on the night of her 21st birthday. She's in way over her head, yet she has to be quick on her feet in order to fit in and survive this hidden world. Gabbi is forced to take over Roxie's life, which means dealing with the hot mess miss popular left behind. Fortunately for her, her twin's number one rival, Cross, was perceptive enough to figure out something was off right away. He agreed to help Gabbi from being discovered without wanting anything in return. But he's not the only one in on her secret! Theo, who lives down the hall from her, loves to annoy "Roxie" by laying on the charm real thick, and she has to hide her involuntary attraction to him because Roxie always iced him out. As if that wasn't bad enough, she's struggling with the course work and one of her teaching assistants has a thing for her, or rather, Roxie. The Fae want her punished for something she didn't even do.

Time is running out -- Gabbi is torn between missing her family, and developing feelings for the three men who would do anything to protect her. Oh, and I mean ANYTHING, if you get my drift. ;) So If you love passionate reverse harem romances with a supernatural twist, you need to listen to this! #AudiobookObsessionReviewer

Good start to this magical RH series by Sadie Moss

Let me first talk about the story. I thought the concept was new and refreshing for me, I liked the thought of a parallel world but the mystery of why Gabbie and Roxy swapped and not being able to talk to one another made it that much for difficult for both of them. The guys definitely didnt make it easy on Gabbie, neither did Roxy's bff and the professors. I felt for Gabbie so hard, how alone she felt. I thought it was interesting Cross was the first to figure it out haha and I felt bad for Cassian haha. I am probably butchering the names but I listened to these on audio so I am just guessing 😂😂😂. I think in book one, Cassian and Theo were stealing my heart, but it definitely changed in book 2 haha. Good chemistry and good story progression without being too wallow/whiney (just because of Gabbie's situation it could have gone there but thank goodness Sadie didnt!). I think the only reason I couldn't give this 5 stars for the story was it was a tad slow for me. I didnt feel like I had to listen as soon as I was done work/got a break. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the story and continued on with the series, but it didnt hit me like some of my recent 5 stars have (where I wanted to start back up right away at the earliest moment).

This was one of the academy books I did like the classes and progression. It didnt feel forced and it made for a good escape from the contemporary books I have been listening too. I like how Gabbie had to learn and get help from the guys, and the cool spells they mentioned. I wanted to punch some of the professors for being so rude and ridiculous, but some seemed to actually care. I loved the study sessions with Cassian too. Made me reminisce of high school and college with study session. Like I mentioned in previous reviews, I am not a huge fan of academy but this one was tasteful with that element of the story. Definitely not overdone.

In terms of the audiobook, I did enjoy Sarah Pavelec (first time listening to her). I thought he did a good job with the various voices and inflections were on point for the most part. I think sometimes she was too laid back when it should have been more forceful, which is why I am gravitating to 4-4.5 stars (which is still pretty good haha). I definitely would listen to her again, no complaints to make me not listen. I did really enjoy her various accents for the guys. Theo's was great, and the scholarly/wonder I could hear in Cassian was great. Cross definitely had the smart-$%T, stubborn, and gruff facade going on haha. One of the better male voices done by a female narrator.

Would definitely recommend this series and narrator again!

Such an original storyline

I love this series!!! I love the originality of the story line. This is about a human girl that magically gets swapped with her "magic world" twin. They are not fae. They are completely separate from the Fae world. So now Gabbi (h) has to navigate this new world with no magic where her "twin" Roxy was supposedly a magical genius. She meets three men in the magical world who help her try to solve the mystery of why she is there and what is going on. Cross, Theo & Kasian become her magical boyfriends and keep her from getting into trouble at school and aid her in figuring our what is going on. Why did she switch with Roxy? Is she is danger? Will she see her family again? Gabbi is dealing with all of these issues while falling head over heels for the (H's). This does end on a cliff hanger. The narrator Sarah does an excellent job of immersing the reading into this book. I can't wait to read more!!! # Audio Obsession Reviewer

Missing

I love this author and was so excited to dive into another of her books. The hero's were hot and lots of great sexy times but I couldn't get into the story. It just felt like it was missing something. I hated that she was boring except for having a talent to pick up on people's actions/moves. Just became frustrated with the story and wasn't sure where it was leading. The narrator had a great voice.

Great great great!

I like well written stories that also can get very steamy. This fit the bill perfectly. Usually, I have to give up good storytelling to get some HOT love scenes or it’s just all story and maybe some making out. Nope, you get the best of both with this. I need to remember how much I like Sadie Moss. Narrator was awesome too! Happy!

Terrific!

Magic Swap, the first book in the Hidden World Academy, is a brilliantly composed urban fantasy blend with fairytale components. Sadie Moss is one of my favourite authors for the genre, she captivates her readers and listeners with her fantastic world-building and colourful characters. I was hooked from the beginning to the very last word. The storyline is absolutely amazing, exciting, and wholly entertaining, with enough twists, and turns to keep me thoroughly engaged. I really liked Gabby, our heroine, she falls into a situation, finding herself travelling from a Dull World to Hidden World, a new world. She does her best to manage the uncertainty, embarking on an adventure to find a way home. The twist at the end is marvellous, it sets the grounds for the second book in the series.

The narration Sarah Pavelec is flawless, doing an incredible job with the characters, literally breathing life into them. Overall, this fabulous listen, one I'd highly recommend.

WOW

I have to say, I wasn't sure what to expect with this story, and I am pleasantly surprised! I really enjoyed this. Gabby is a pretty amazing character. The world-building was awesome, and I have to Sarah Pavelec was new to me as a narrator, but she was fantastic!

Ok

I love Sadie Moss. Her books usually hook me from page one, however this one fell kinda flat for me. I wasn’t drawn in, and I really never got the pull. The book wasn’t bad, the writing was good. The characters I don’t really connect with. I’m not sure if it was the narration or just my mood. You may be different, so give it a shot.

Paranormal Reverse Harem

Magic Swap by Sadie Moss is a medium-burn paranormal reverse harem romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Sarah Pavelec. This is the first book in the Hidden World Academy series.

Fantastic story and fabulous narration

Oh my goodness I so enjoyed this story. The characters are great and I love the world they inhabit. Such a great idea behind the story and I loved watching how they dealt with everything thrown at them. Sarah Pavelec did such a great job with the narration, I got lost in the characters she brought to life. I cannot wait to find out what happens next.

Enthralling

WOW, wow, wow! Totally amazing. Honestly, this book is really good, I loved many things about it, the story line, it has a great start and then it just keep getting better, it's not rush, and the events that happens keeps you enthralled in the story not letting you get away from the book needing to know what's going to happen. The characters are so good, their personalities, the chemistry between them all, I really love all of Gabby's guys. The world that Sadie Moss created for this book is fascinating, the idea of the Dull Word and The Hidden Word is so good and make me wish I could visit it...

Finally the narration of Sarah Pavelec was perfect, the only drawback is that her paced is a little bit slower (personal opinion) but just changing the speed helped. Otherwise, I truly enjoyed it, she has a great voice, and her performance is brilliant, she has different voices for every character and are easily distinguishable. Her male voices are really good and her accent for Theo is brilliant! Her performance of each character really reflects their personalities and their feelings , it truly makes the book so much enjoyable.

Just not my cup of tea

The narration was great but I just couldn’t get into the storyline of this one. The idea that you can switch places with someone and no one would notice is an old idea but I guess I just couldn’t get myself to believe that her best friend wouldn’t notice, I think it just made me sad for the character. The writing was good and I liked the characters overall just not my thing.

Off to a good start.

I have read and enjoyed quiet a few books by Sadie Moss and she writes reverse harem romances very well. The same applied to Magic Swap the first hidden Magic book. My honest criticism is that it didn't keep my interest in the way that her other books did and i kept putting it down and coming back to it. I would however recommend reading it and look forward to the next book in this series.

I thoroughly enjoyed the narration by Sarah Pavelec was consistent and engaging and a treat for the ears.

PNR

Sadie did an excellent job in creating this storyline. There is the dull world, a human world with no magic; the hidden world where magical beings live and some outlining subworlds where the Fae and other magical creatures live just outside of the hidden world. Gabbie is from the dull world, her “other” (twin), Roxie is from the Hidden world. They change places, and Gabbie must learn how to adapt while she searches for a way back home. This book does have quite the cliffhanger and you’ll be wanting to pick up book two immediately. Sarah does an excellent job with the narrative!

Great Listen

This was a great paranormal romance. This book holds inter dimensional twins, different versions of earth and a reverse harem romance with three guys. This book does end in a cliffhanger so if you think that this is something you will like, make sure you have access to get it once you have read it. This wouldn’t be an absolute favourite of mine but it was a really good book none the less. If you have read the blurb and think you will like it, I would definitely recommend it. One main thing I loved about this book is that the author didn’t make the main character really powerful and instead made her human in a world full of magic users, forcing her to instead use what she is given. The narration in this audiobook was awesome and definitely gave emotion and personality to the characters that I probably wouldn’t be able to maintain if I was reading this. Enjoy!
