From the author of the critically acclaimed Daniel Jacobus mystery series comes Maestro, the Potbellied Pig, the heartwarming tale of Cassandra, a young harpist who forms a perfect friendship with a unique pet. Well, maybe not exactly perfect!

Music performed by Franziska Huhn, harp; and Gerald Elias (aka PJ Pajama), violin. Featured harp excerpts include: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Concerto for Flute and Harp; Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov: Scheherazade; George Frederic Handel: Harp Concerto in B; Maurice Ravel: Piano Concerto in G; Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky: Waltz of the Flowers, The Nutcracker Ballet; Gabriel Fauré: Impromptu, Op. 86; and Hector Berlioz: Symphonie Fantastique.

"A thoroughly enjoyable story! The narrator and musicians were wonderful! Congratulations!" (Ann Pilot, former principal harp, Boston Symphony Orchestra)

Alison Larkin is the award-winning narrator of over 200 books including Peter Pan and the Inconsiderate Waiter, Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, The Complete Novels of Jane Austen, and Agatha Christie's The Secret Adversary.

Franziska Huhn is an internationally renowned harpist and a faculty member of the New England Conservatory of Music and Boston University.

Gerald Elias leads a double life as a world class musician and as the author of the award-winning Daniel Jacobus mystery series, Mister E’s Mysteries, and other writings.

Maestro, the potbellied pig, is a delightful story of a young girl who is inspired by a night at the symphony to become a professional musician. She also bonds with her pet potbellied pig, whom she names Maestro. The story is enriched with gorgeous harp music and a few violin excerpts. Young people will find the story delightful. Perhaps they too will be captured by the beautiful harp playing and desire to become a musician as well.

Delightful tale.

This is a charming story of a young girl, Cassi, who becomes enchanted by the harp during her first visit to the philharmonic and follows her dream to play and master it. At some point, she looks for a pet to keep her company and finds a piglet she comes to name Maestro. The two develop a strong bond and enduring friendship. Interspersed throughout the story we hear snippets of beautiful music, violin and harp. The story might be particularly inspiring for children interested in music.

Charming, unique story with a musical twist
