SoCalGov Stalker Kai Gracen always knew Death walked in his shadow. Enough people told him that, including his human mentor, Dempsey. Problem was, the old man never told him what to do when Death eventually caught up. Where Tanic, his elfin father and the Wild Hunt Master of the Unsidhe Court, brought Kai pain and suffering, Dempsey gave him focus and a will to live...at least until everything unraveled.

Smart men never dabble with demons. I never claimed to be smart, but at least, I’m powerful enough to control them. When I bound Havoc to me nearly 300 years ago, I never realized how difficult he’d make my life, although “accidentally” lighting him on fire every now and then does bring a smile to my face. Havoc is handsome, mysterious, and somehow, my closest companion, even if we don’t always get along.

Publisher's Summary
Kai Gracen has no intention of being anyone's pawn. A pity Fate and SoCalGov have a different opinion on the matter.
Licensed Stalkers make their living hunting down monsters and dangerous criminals, and their lives are usually brief, brutal, and thankless. Despite being elfin and cursed with a nearly immortal lifespan, Kai didn't expect to be any different. Then Ryder, the High Lord of the Southern Rise Court, arrived in San Diego, and Kai's not-so-mundane life went from mild mayhem to full-throttle chaos.
Now an official liaison between the growing Sidhe Court and the human populace, Kai is at Ryder's beck and call for anything a High Lord might need a Stalker to do. Unfortunately for Kai, this means chasing down a flimsy rumor about an ancient lost Court somewhere in the Nevada desert - a court with powerful magics that might save Ryder's - and Kai's - people from becoming a bloody memory in their Merged world's violent history.
The race for the elfin people's salvation opens unwelcome windows into Kai's murky past, and it could also slam the door on any future he might have with his own kind and Ryder.

When Amazng meets Fantastic..SPOILERS...SPOILERS
Any additional comments?
In the middle of action, adventure, betrayal, demented elf's trying to play God, and laying the foundation to relationships bound in loyalty, you're gifted with a slow burning romance between Ryder and Kai.
If you are looking for erotica between two men, this story isnt for you.
But if you are looking for a story between two men who learn to respect each other, who learn to care for each other, who learn to protect each other, who look past lust and sexual desire in leui of truly seeing what is real in each others heart and soul through out an adventure full of dragons, creatures made of nightmares, explosions, gun fights, and so much d@mn action you almost miss the fantastic mystery surrounding their adventure, then this is a story for you.
💖 I absolutely loved everything about this story and Im so d@mn excited to see where Ryder and Kai's relationship will end up.
My God, there were some truly beautiful moments between Kai and a couple of the characters in this story. Ryder pouring his heart out to Kai -sniff, sniff- just beautiful. But the moment that brought unshed tears to my eyes was between Kai and Sparky.
"I fell in love with that young boy lyng on my workbench as still as he could so we could undo what a monster did to him."
-shaky sigh- Greg, Greg, Greg! That man has me falling in love with these characters he passionately potrays and thats talent when its done with only a voice 💖

For fans of fantasy!
Any additional comments?
Seriously, Rhys Ford does some really excellent and damn interesting world building with this series. But it's Greg Tremblay that elevates this to auditory art.
This story was like listening to a graphic novel come to life. Greg Tremblay perfectly captures the action and excitement of the story and brings it to life. The story and the narration is an experience.
This isn't a romance. While it has hints of possible romance to happen in the series, it's first and foremost a fantasy story.
In this installment elfin outcast and Stalker Kai Gracen is once again importuned to help Ryder, the High Lord of the Southern Rise Court.
The action in this start heavy and doesn't stop until the very end. It's a roller coaster ride that all I can say is hold on to your seat, 'cause it gets bumpy on this ride!
I had such a great time listening to this and that has everything to do with Greg Tremblay's wonderful narration. His accents, pacing and timing are all absolutely perfect for this story (and series). Kai is one of my favorite Rhys Ford characters, the prickly bastard, and I can hardly wait for more from his world.
For fans of fantasy and audio this is definitely recommended!

Keeps getting better!
Love the action and the continuing evolution of the relationship between Kai and Ryder. If you're looking for a sex filled series, this isn't it! It's a very slow burn romance, which makes perfect sense, given Kai's background and his distrust of Ryder's motives and the Sidhe/UnSidhe in general. It's a great story with a great narrator.

Review for the first and second
I wasn't sure I'd like these books even though I love both Rhys Ford and Greg Tremblay. They sat on my audible for quite awhile. Now I'm mad at myself for not listening sooner.
As always, the combination of Rhys Ford and Greg Tremblay is nothing short of magical. I'm ready for book 3 now.
I will say I sobbed when Shorty was telling Kai about her memory of first meeting Kai. God, that gutted me.
Get this series. You won't regret it.

Great story, with an awesome narrator!
The story is unique, the descriptions vivid, and the humor/snark an awesome topping.
Greg Trembley (narrator) makes a great story even better, and I love the way every character sounds unique - I actually knew who was saying things only based on the tone of voice. (He's now my nr. 1 favourite narrator!)
Looking forward to the continuation.
Highly recommended!

CANT WAIT TILL BOOK 3 & THERE BETTER BE ONE!!! LOL
What made the experience of listening to Mad Lizard Mambo the most enjoyable?
I love this writer, narrator combo...together they are pure gold!
What did you like best about this story?
How Ryder, will stop at nothing to have Kai, and kept letting Kai know how important he was...He wants to take care of him in every way!
Which character – as performed by Greg Tremblay – was your favorite?
Kai of course!!! Then Ryder!
If you could rename Mad Lizard Mambo, what would you call it?
I would not change the name..I really like the name!!!
Any additional comments?
I relistened to book 1 1st because it had been awhile, and then listened to this one...I really like the romance brewing between Kai and Ryder, and I wish Kai's terrible family would leave him alone! They just keep torturing him..as if what they did to him as a child was not enough..they treated him like a science project, so no wonder he Id's as human, and not Unshe or She...or even Elven...I hope we get a book 3 and a true romance between Kai and Ryder...and I want to see how the baby girls grow up...I really like Kai Gracen!!
WELL WORTH YOUR TIME AND A CREDIT! GREAT SERIES!!!

Great book
I loved this again, as with the first book in the series. I’m a fan of Faith Hunter’s Jane Yellowrock series, and Ilona Andrew’s Kate Daniels series as well as her other urban fantasy series. This book had a similar feel. The story is more about what escapades Kai is getting up to, but there’s a nice thread of romance with Ryder too (definitely not the focus of the book though). Thoroughly enjoyed the book and wish there were more of the series on Audible. It’s very much written to build the overall story and Kai’s character more with each book in the series, but there’s plenty of plot as a stand-alone too.
It’s set in a world where bisexuality and polyamory is accepted, and the person is more important than what labels and categories are put upon them. This isn’t a big deal in the book, just the way it is. Kai is attracted to men and women, but he doesn’t have any other relationships in this book. The romance is more chemistry and a suggestion of possibilities with Ryder (a man), rather than them starting a relationship, and there’s no sex. Not in a PG rated aimed at teenagers way, just that they’re too busy having an epic adventure for that to happen.

Great description and amazing narration make this a must have.
I’ve never been keen on fantasy but Kai Gracen has changed that. Rhys Ford writes a ripping tale putting the hero through some very nasty scrapes. She excels in the detail of her descriptions while never bogging down the action, and there is plenty of that. Greg Tremblay, as always, gives a superb narration bringing the characters to life. I now know how to pronounce those sidh words. I find very few narrators easy to listen to but Greg is one of the best. He gives each character a unique voice so that they are easy to recognise. I highly recommend this Audible book.

Brilliant
An action packed sequel with lots of critters. Black dogs, shady people, threats, Dragons, explosions and Kai Gracen. This book has everything.
Some more reveals, a step towards accepting a relationship. Dragons - Sorry Kai, I like Dragons!
Love this series.
The narration - well it's Greg Tremblay and if you've not tried one of his audios then you're missing out.

Another wonderful fantasy read from Rhys....
Another fabulous instalment of the Kai Gracen series from Ms Ford, narrated perfectly as per usual by Mr Tremblay. The world-building is phenomenal, the sheer amount of nasty creatures able to bite your head off or just plain old eat you is staggering [and I include huge worms and those bloody awful black dogs...again!!], but this time around we also have treachery, murder and extremely unwelcome visits from relatives [of sorts, and those of you that have read this series know the vile monster that Kai was created by, and what his known siblings are like].
Kai is huge of heart and braveness personified, and Ryder falls in love with him even more...there is NO sex whatsoever in this story, but we can only hope that in the next story Ryder and his ainle Kai give in to their mutually acknowledged heat, and one thing's for certain...it will be explosive!! 5 stars from me.

Beautiful performance
I love Greg's rendition of both Kai and Ryder. As always the story he is working with is brilliant - lyrical, descriptive, emotional, funny. But it's his prickly rendition of the main characters who make it for me in this audio book. Fantastic!
