Publisher's summary

Rescue never looked so dangerous.

Lucky and crew think the worst is behind them when a ship finally arrives to whisk them away from a doomed diplomatic mission.

It doesn't take long to learn how wrong they are.

Before they know it, a seemingly vanquished foe returns more powerful, and with more resources, than ever.

But it's the source of this new power that proves more disturbing than anything else.

As time runs out, and the stakes rise to inconceivable levels, Lucky realizes that even if he wins, everybody loses.

Don't ask Lucky. Just give him a weapon and get out of the way.

Gritty. Fast-Paced. Addictive. You'll love this high-octane military sci-fi because it's the love child of "Starship Troopers" and "Jason Bourne."

Great story, wonderful narration.

I really enjoyed this one. The characters are gritty and realistic, the story is dark and bloody, and there are plenty of hilarious incidents that had me laughing out loud.

Unceasing Action

I enjoyed this third box set of "Lucky's Marines " which was made up of books 8 & 9 in the series as much as the first two. The action in all three box sets was non-stop and each moment flowed into the next moment with a high-octane intensity that didn't end. I liked Lucky as a character. I liked his interaction with the others on his team. I enjoyed the snappy dialogue, and the flashes of humor. It was a sad moment for me when the series ended as I'm going to miss Lucky and his team; however, I will explore his new adventures. Mark Boyett's narration was superb, and his performance kept my attention. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

Oorah!

Books 8 and 9 of this imaginative military science fiction story are filled with non-stop violent action, intriguing plot twists and turns, palpable tension and betrayal. I especially enjoyed the snarky repartee between the colorful characters as well as the humor on display in the most inopportune situations. This series is quite entertaining and a fun ride. The narration was terrific and added to my enjoyment of this series. I was provided a free review of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving this review.

Good Audiobook series

This is not a review of just the last two books but a review of the entire series. I would recommend this series for any lover of military scifi. The story line is well written from the beginning untill the end of book 9 and is full of action. The only issue I had was in the last 2 books where the good guy "Lucky" starts getting beat up so badly that he should be dead, I know he has antibodies that heal him but really he should have died at least three times but 5 minute's later he was back up fighting again that was a little far fetched for me. Other than that this entire series was well done and I would recommend it.
