Publisher's summary

I never imagined the protector I longed for would be a mob boss who demanded complete control. I shouldn’t have gone to Lucien’s office.

Once I looked into his eyes, I couldn’t leave. He commanded me to kneel. Beg. Obey. I couldn’t help myself. One taste, and I craved more.

Lucien vowed to protect me from his enemies.... But who’s going to protect my heart from him?

This MM mafia romance is the first book in the Marchesi family series.

I really enjoyed this book.

The storyline was wonderful and dark and obsessive. I so loved the charter of Lucien and the way the narrator brought him to life was simply divine. Michael's voice was like velvet when he did the role of Lucien. This book for sure is on a relisten list for me.

Mmmmmmm YES!

Lucien is wickedly hot and needs to be in control. I’m not a huge fan of dark romance, but after the initial ‘how they met’ darkness - which isn’t overtly horrible - I actually liked the story a lot. It was interesting seeing the completely different sides of the D/s relationship. Thankfully, it wasn’t filled with torturous angst (ugh- I hate when authors turn MM romance into girly teen novels). This story was crafted smartly, with a Mafia boss who is as ‘mafia boss’ as one can be- no soft squishiness that changes him over time. And a sub companion who isn’t a whiny wimp, but who just ‘gets’ his partner and eventually accepts him just as he is, even with glacially slow softening of maybe one corner of an edge of his personality. The plot was developed well, solidly entertaining, and fully believable. Michael Dean, as always, gives a solid performance and no matter where you left off you know which character is talking! Great job.

FABULOUS!

What a fabulous start to a series! I just got sucked in by the Marchesi Family from the first page! A friend told me I needed to listen to this series as Michael Dean just knocked it out of the park. She was completely right! Michael just elevated this story for me, bringing a perfectly growly voice to Lucien and a more innocent voice to Peter. He captured the mafia intrigue, drama and suspense perfectly and boy did he NAIL the steam between Lucien and Peter, wow it was done so well! On to Angelo's story next!

Awesome Mafia Story

I loved this book and knew the audio would be amazing. Peter is a sweet innocent man who gets wrapped up in Luciens world. This story is hot and exciting and I loved everything about it. Cant wait for stories about the other characters. You won't regret getting this one.

Weak Character

Good story but all of the boys should not be so weak and girl like. Have listen to many of the books and none of the sub characters are anything but girl like.

Not bad start to a new series

3.5 stars as I was kind of disappointed with this one, not enough to not carry on with the series, just with what I was expecting. A mob boss, in my opinion, is a ruthless cold hearted bloody killer. And even though we see glimpses of that in Lucien, he’s not really that. Also, he doesn’t go after Peter’s cousin, forget his name, for what he does to Peter? And from the absolute second he sees Peter, he is all mine and you are moving in with me and doing everything I saw or u will be punished . No discussions about the lifestyle, though I don’t think Lucien is really living the D/s lifestyle he just wants to be in charge. And Peter is such a timid rabbit ends up doing what he did there towards the end? I could see it if it was in their home but not going into danger. And since Ash played a part, I would have liked to have know if he was doing okay. Any way, I will be continuing on but I have a better understanding of the dynamics. Lucien and Peter were hawt together.

HOT!!

Wow!! I’d been hearing how amazing this series was in audio, so I waited to pick it up until I could binge all 3 books of the Marchesi Family. Everyone was right. Holy hotness, the narration of this is off the charts HOT. Michael Dean immediately pulled me into this story. His voice for Lucien was so perfectly rough and growly and I loved it. He did such an amazing job telling Lucien and Peter’s story. Honestly there is nothing I didn’t love about this book. There is action, dominance, super smoking hot sexy times and a Mafia family you have to know about. I was immediately in love with both Peter and Lucien. Peter was such a sweet and gentle soul, you wanted someone who was going to protect to him and claim him as their own. In comes Lucien, an alpha male Mafia boss who wanted to dominate and claim Peter as his own. Their chemistry was AMAZING. I loved Lucien’s brand of dominance and Peter’s sweet submission. I’m so sucked into the Marchesi Family I can’t wait to listen to the rest.

I love Silvia Violet’s brand of kinky!

Here we have Lucien, head of a mafia family, who decides he wants Peter, who’s grown up surrounded by relatives with dubious affairs, but stays out of it to keep himself safe. As soon as Lucien sees him, he decides he wants to own him and demand his obedience, but he never plans to fall in love with the naïve younger man.
The book is really good, on the kinky side, with very few sweet moments (as you would expect from a mob boss), and the setting is quite different from your “usual romance”.
