Good wives don’t fall in love with other men. That's what Amber Rae—who also narrates this program—told herself when, in the midst of building a home with her husband in Mexico, she met the man she knew she was meant to spend the rest of her life with.

Maybe in another life, she thought. But the truth was, for years, she smiled and strived her way through a sexless and lonely marriage, never admitting her unhappiness to anyone—not even to herself. She thought that if she just tried harder, everything would fall into place. But as the voice inside her grew louder, she realized she had two choices: keep pretending everything’s fine and her needs don’t matter, or confront everything she thought she knew about love, loyalty, and her own limits.

Loveable is a raw and intimate journey of a woman breaking free from the roles that confined her. This memoir isn't about trading one life or one man for another—it’s about the painful, beautiful process of coming home to oneself. And this isn't just Amber’s story―it's a rallying cry to stop being good so you can start being free.

Critic reviews

"Loveable is the permission slip we all need to shed the conditioning that keeps us stuck. Amber Rae’s words are as raw as they are liberating, showing us how to choose ourselves.”—Jillian Turecki, New York Times bestselling author of It Begins with You

“Some books you can’t put down because the story is that good. Others wake you up to the person you’re meant to become. In Loveable, Amber Rae accomplishes both. This book is a revelation—raw, transformative, and deeply inspiring.”—Terri Cole, psychotherapist and author of Too Much

"A riveting story that will nudge you closer to standing in your truth. If you are looking for encouragement to change, love deeply, and choose emotional liberation, this book is for you."—Alex Elle, New York Times bestselling author of How We Heal

I read this twice in 4 days. It was deeply moving, honest and thought provoking. I rewinded it many times, took notes, and shared my insights with my partner and my therapist. Thank you Amber Rae for standing in your truth, even when others don’t understand. I feel inspired to stand in my truth too.

Moving and inspirational

I found you and this book on Barely Filtered, a podcast I love. I didn’t love the interview because I didn’t feel like I got to know as much about you and this book as I would like, but I got enough to connect and immediately purchase your book. This book. I’m an avid reader of memoirs and non-fiction and I can’t think of a book that’s made me cry. I cried so many times while reading this and not eyes glistening kind of way, in a full on sob. I’m not sure I’ve ever related to an author, or other human more. When you are a deep feeler and struggle with the type of wounds you carry, life can feel lonely. I felt so seen and understood and less alone. I’ve been deep in my healing journey with many of the same childhood wounds as you and this book as given me hope. Hope I’ll find my love and they will love all parts of me. Hope that I will be truly be seen, heard, and understood by another. Hope that men exist and want a woman, a love, a relationship like this - built on real depth. Hope that the hard work I am doing is in fact worth it. Thank you.

A book as never made me feel so seen and so heard.

I consumed this audiobook within 24 hours, it was THAT good. The writing was so beautiful, honest and open. Her words gave me chills, and at the end my eyes were filled with tears feeling proud of this woman that I don’t know but admire the lengths she went to reach the life she was meant to have and all the work she put into this beautiful book. She was so giving in allowing the reader into very intimate details of her life and the unraveling of her conditioning. I also appreciate how absolutely real she was about how life looks after finding the love your life. It doesn’t fix everything, in fact, it’s just the start of healing in all directions.

So beautifully open

This book was exactly what I needed. It’s raw, honest, and deeply affirming. I felt seen in ways I didn’t expect — like it gently held up a mirror and reminded me that I am enough, just as I am. A beautiful mix of vulnerability and truth. Highly recommend if your heart needs a reminder of its worth. 💛

Amber retells her arc of emotional growth and relationship evolution with clear prose and steady voice. It’s well done. It’s not extraordinary in the way that some memoirs can be. Perhaps the struggles she recounts, while relatable, weren’t dramatic enough for me. And perhaps it was just a tad too sweet to be compelling.
