Let's look at the research on what makes us vulnerable to abuse. Then, let's look at some ways WorththeWar is helping to provide ways to educate the hearts in our reach that deserve better!
Are you ready to help spare hearts?
Let’s look at what research shows makes someone vulnerable and then consider: do you know anyone like this?
- Empathy & compassion- more likely to overlook red flags and hope for healing
- Naivety or lack of experience: people with little to no experience who have no idea of things like love bombing or gaslighting. (pretty much anyone YOUNG)
- Financial dependence/instability; easier to trap and control.
- Low self-esteem- They will be more likely to believe they deserve it.
There are other factors, too: past trauma, societal attitudes, cultural norms, isolation, peer pressure to be in a relationship, and the list goes on. This is helpful information you can find at the National Domestic Abuse Violence Hotline and RAINN websites!
I think the question becomes, how many people do you know who don’t make this list? The Dark Heart (someone who would rather wound than Love)
How does the way we define Love play into this vulnerability? If we don’t have a healthy definition of Love, we are more likely to confuse it with attraction, control, jealousy, and manipulation. Culture adds to the confusion with ideas like Love hurts, jealousy is cute, and dominance is sexy.
We are working to provide you with conversation starters to open the dialogue about what Love is and what people call Love to isolate and control you. The idea is to have a fun gift or novelty to show how much you care and then to open the dialogue about what is happening in the broader culture. How many people want Love only by choosing a path that leads to broken dreams, lives, and worse?
We can only battle what we know; it’s time to begin to teach the tactics and the ideas that take us places we never wanted, with people we never understood.
I hope you are ready. It’s been a long time since we learned what tangible things we can do to shift the ideas of Love. Let’s do this!
Let’s Love Well or Not at All!
