Thoughtfully written story

This was a good story, and I enjoyed listening to it in the car and the background as I did things around the house or worked but I had a hard time falling in love with any of the characters. They all seemed to have major flaws in their personalities or lack regard for others in a way that was frustrating to listen to at times. Overall, and by the end, the story was interesting and relatable enough to keep me engaged.

A well-told story and the narrator really made it come to life. Very enjoyable.

Blah

I felt the story was not well written. It could have used more character development rather than just going from one conflict to the next. I also didn’t love the narration. It seemed one note, and monotone.

Wonderful family story

This book was funny and serious by turns. It is well written with interesting characters & insights into the importance of love and compromise to improve family relationships.

Lessons learned

It had a string story line, sort of predictable but very realistic for first world problems. I enjoy it and would recommend to listen when you have some free time and need a little pallet cleanser

Sad and Heartwarming

Sad that it took a life changing event to make her realize that she was being selfish.

Super cheesy

This started off well enough but the second half read like a manual on how to be a good Indian wife. I pushed through to the end but it was predictable and the constant preachy tone was annoying.

Never Enough

Messages like this can never be heard enough. I enjoy hearing of overcoming life changes and each of us empowering ourselves to be better people no matter our age, place in life, or culture. This book was a joy to hear.

Lovely twist/change in lives

I so enjoyed the growth in people in spite of, or maybe because of circumstances beyond their control.

Strange story

Pros: I truly enjoyed learning more about the culture, food, and traditions of the two families

Some sweet family elements; interesting perspectives on regret and changing viewpoints and forgiving others; change and growing up

Cons: oddly preachy? It often feels like a cautionary fable that already feels quite dated with the COVID emphasis rather than a fully fleshed out story. Perhaps cultural norms that simply do not translate?

With these elements the story can feel a little trite

Also, I just cannot classify this as romance.
