I’ll start with how stunning the cover is— beautiful artwork. It was fun to get my eyes on the MCs. The artist was really able to convey chemistry between FMC and MMC. Towards the end of the book, I felt that chemistry between the MCs again. I loved their banter and comfortable bickering. I was able to feel how familiar and close they were. I wish we had gotten more of that throughout the story— instead, they felt pretty distant from one another for the majority of the book.

I know a main cause for their distance was FMC’s anxiety. While I thought it was a very accurate depiction of the disorder, I will admit that the overwhelming presence of it in all descriptions and internal monologues was a little distracting and felt redundant. Anxiety is definitely a main focus of the story, and the realistic portrayal gave FMC some depth. However, I found myself wanting more time to be spent on the relationships between the characters (side and main).

Once the FMC experienced some growth and got better professional help/support, there was a very satisfying shift— I was able to better focus on the relationship dynamics, FMC’s professional journey, and her experience navigating anxiety.

Fun concept! Congratulations to the author on her debut novel~

Audiobook duet narration by Casey Montgomery and Gabe Walsh-Shore was fun. They both did a great job adding vocal variety to their performances, making it easy to differentiate between the various characters.
