Publisher's summary

A powerful attorney, a woman with a heart too big for her own good, and an instant family neither was prepared for...

Garrett Bradley commands the attention of some of the most influential clients in the country as one of the leading corporate attorneys in New York City, but one phone call changes everything. He must return home to Hallbrook, NH, where he soon discovers he’s responsible for three young kids and one monster-sized Saint Bernard.

April St. James, the social worker assistant assigned to the children’s case before Garrett’s mother adopted them, was staying with the children until Sarah Bradley’s prodigal son returns home to take up his responsibilities. Unfortunately, it puts her own job in jeopardy.

A powerhouse in the business world but clueless when it comes to children, Garrett turns to April with an offer she can’t refuse, enticing her to come to the city as a temporary nanny. The deal will allow her to finally pursue her dreams once the job is done.

But three kids, a dog, a nanny, and an uptight attorney don’t mix well in a fancy NYC penthouse. And when Garrett makes a mistake at work, he realizes somethings got to give before the situation destroys his reputation, the company, and most importantly, his new family.

A most engaging story

I loved this book from the very first few paragraphs and couldn’t wait to find how it all panned out.
It didn’t disappoint and had me flu until the last chapter.
If you love clean romance, you will love this tale.

Highly Recommend

What a fun read! This is a cute story with well developed characters. I can't imagine what it would be like to suddenly find yourself as a guardian to 3 children... especially for a single man. While Garrett made a tremendous effort, with the help of April he rose to the occasion and rocked it. While parts of it may tug at the heartstrings, other parts will have you laughing out loud.

The narration was well done.

So Sweet

This was such a sweet story. It was fun to follow the progression of the relaionship of Garret and Alice. And the children were wonderful characters as well. The story illustrated what love and discipline can do to make responsible little human beings out of children; even the littlest ones. This was really an enjoyable book and I'm looking forward to the next one. This is the first time I have read this author. I am always impressed when I find an author that writes sweet and clean!

The narraion was good and I especially like the children doing the voices for the children in the story. They did an excellent job with good expression.

Wonderful Storytelling

This was my first audiobook (or book) by Elsie Davis. And it won’t be my last! The story was about three orphaned children...but I don’t want to give anything away. Really fun performance by both adults and especially the children. I finished it in one day it was so good!

Welcome to Hallbrook New Hampshire and the start of a new series. Garrett arrives home to take care of his mother's estate and finds out he is an instant Dad. His Mother adopted three children and a huge dog and didn't tell him. Boy is he surprised. He had no idea and likes being a single, successful attorney in New York City. Right now they are being taken care of by April, their caseworker, until Garrett arrives and figures things out. April agrees to go to New York with them, to assist in finding a Nanny for them. Change of heart

A sweet story of learning that true success is found at home and not in the office when a man discovers he is now the guardian of 3 children and a dog. It was a fun story to follow as the main character made major shifts in his thinking and beliefs as he discovered lasting happiness.
The reader had a pleasant, consistent voice and was accompanied by two young children. The two made a good story even better with their talents for narration.

A 3.5 stars sweet story

This audiobook starts the Hallbrook series and centers around Garrett Bradley and April St. James.
Garrett is a top notch attorney in NYC whose life is suddenly turned upside down when he’s entrusted not only three young children but also a lovable , but also slightly unruly St. Bernard.
April had been the social worker assigned to the case prior to them being adopted by Garrett’s Mom. When his Mom passes, April is taking care of the children until Garrett’s arrival. The man who is now the legal guardian of the kids. To say he was shocked, unprepared and clueless, is putting it mildly.
Watching the trials and tribulations of the kids, the dog, Garrett and April was at times funny and crazy.
This is a sweet, clean story very much in the style of Hallmark. Not earth shattering, but good to listen/read in an afternoon of leisure.
