Publisher's Summary

Determined to prove she’s more than just a pretty face, Detective Evie Harper works hard and trains even harder to be the very best. Her first homicide case will put her skills to the test as she and her partner Detective Stephen Harris track a ruthless serial killer terrorizing the west end of town. The Lovelorn killer may be one step ahead of them, but they’re closing in fast - until an immoral decision is made that leaves their partnership hanging in the balance.

Love Lorn is the first book in a six-book series called The Twisted Love. While this book was created by me, Amy Manemann, the second book, Love Torn, will be created by USA Today best-selling author, Stacy Eaton. The two of us have worked together on these two books, so our stories run parallel and prepare you for the first full-length novel in the series coming this fall. Stacy's prequel to our series will be releasing in May.

The Twisted Love series: The first full-length co-authored novel, Love Inked, will introduce author Amy Manemann’s Detective Evie Harper with author Stacy Eaton’s Kali Mann as they become partners. Their lives are about to change, and the cases they will investigate will be intense. Between a new serial murder and dealing with their pasts, these two will be tearing up the streets and the pages as they deal with Twisted Love

Great start to a new detective series

Rookie Detective Evie Harper is on her first homicide case. She and partner, Stephen Harris, must stop a serial killer who is terrorizing the women of Philadelphia. Being a rookie...and female...is hard but Evie plunders on with excellent investigative skills. Meanwhile, she is fighting the growing chemistry between her and her partner...until she doesn’t. When Evie and Harris crack the case, she feels that everything is great in her world, until Harris makes a questionable decision. What will Evie do next? Guess we’ll find out in Book 2 :))

Entertaining introduction to Detective Evie Harper

Love Lorn, which is Book 1 and the first novella introducing readers and listeners to Detective Evie Harper, is written by Any Manemann. I really enjoyed this listen. Although it's just under three hours, Ms. Manemann does a great job at introducing Evie and the other various characters to us. I definitely didn't want the novella to end and am looking forward to listening to the first full length novel, Love Inked, which brings Evie and Kali (who is introduced in the next novella in the series in Love Torn), together as partners it sounds like. Both are strong women with the stereotypical penchant for sleeping around and falling for their male counterparts. This was an entertaining serial killer/getting to know your partner and proving your worth story though, and I'm listening to the next novella as we speak. So far so good, and I'd definitely recommend listening to these if they sound interesting to you!

Tracey Rooney did a good job narrating Love Lorn. She brought life to the characters and was enjoyable to listen to. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher for an honest review.

Great Story! Great Narration!

Love Lorn by Amy Manemann and Stacy Eaton pulled me in from the very beginning. I so enjoy a story of a strong career woman who is independent and principled. Detective Evie Harper fits that criteria to a T. Her new partner Detective Stephen Harris is intriguing. I loved how they had chemistry and a working relationship, despite his previous womanizing ways. This book has both the story of their relationship along with that of the Love Lorn killer. The twists in finding the killer were great. The narration by Tracey Rooney was fantastic. I love it when I can hear exactly whom is speaking. I will definitely listen to the next book in the series, Love Torn to find out what happens next.

Solid, Thriller Romance

There's nothing here to fault. The writing is solid and the narration is very well done. Tracey's voice really suits the style of the work and makes it easy to listen without interfering with anything. You will need to listen to the second part of the series if you want to find out what happens... but that's OK, I have that too. Though there are four more after that. I like this kind of short(ish) story in Audio format. It's like have a blockbuster movie on tap. Please note: I asked for and received a review copy of this work. That doesn't effect the final opinion expressed which is entirely my own.

Great Short Romantic Suspense!

This is the first book in the Twisted Love Series. This short Romantic Suspense is well written, suspenseful and fast-paced. I love the characters, the storyline and the pace. The story ends with a twist and I can't wait to listen to the next book in the Series. The narration was well done, well paced and easy to understand. Tracey Rooney has a great voice that suits this story and she has a great range of voices. I really enjoyed my listening! I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Great Read

Love Lorn: The Twisted Love Series, Book One was a great read by Amy Manemann. Detective Evie Harper is determined to prove that her gender doesn’t define her. Her and her partner Detective Stephen Harris are working to track a serial killer. I absolutely loved reading Evie and Stephen’s story. I can’t wait to read more of this series.

My Thoughts on Love Lorn

This was a really good series starter by new to me author Amy Manemann.

I really enjoyed everything she managed to have going on in this short story. There was a who done it kind of mystery. There were two detectives investigating a case and all the interesting twists that came with that. And there was the attraction and slight romance between two of the characters, enough to satisfy my need for it.

The narrator for this book did a really good job. Her voice had a good energy and she had enough difference in tone between characters for me to follow along easily who was speaking.

Overall this story was well written and well narrated and I look forward to seeing what comes next.

Love Lorn book 1

Life as a cop and woman. Detective Evie Harper works hard and trains even harder to be the very best. Her partner Detective Stephen Harris, love interest. Evie and Stephen have chemistry making for a love story. Don't be fooled, this is more than just a love story. Set in Philadelphia, they are in search for the Lovelorn killer.

Love Lorn

For such a short listen, this is a really good detective book.
As for the narration I really liked it except for one part. There was a male character that was given the highest voice from any other in this book. I thought that was odd, but other than that I really enjoyed listening to her voice.

Love Lorn - Private eye

I liked the flow of the story, thought it was going to be more suspenseful but it was fine by me for the starter of the series. Although it was soft it was interesting to listen, I dug in to solve the crime and enjoyed the characters love interest.
It was nice to hear both characters, the narrator did great. I specially liked the way Harris talked like a true detective :) And Harper’s fashion eye.

Looking forward to hear the next.

Great!

This was a great introduction to the series and the characters. It was a short listen but very enjoyable and nicely narrated.
I would have liked more suspense in relation to catching the killer as his arrest was very civilised and quiet.
I loved the story and the bit of romance between Evie and Harris. I look for ward to listening to book 2 which tells the story of Kali Mann and then book 3 when it releases bringing Evie and Kali together as partners.
