Publisher's Summary

"Whatever happens in the future, whatever we become in life, know you’re the best thing that ever happened to me."

Taking up shop in the former kosher bakery, Wilder Torres breathes new life into old traditions, but there’s a darkness about him most of the residents in Cherry Creek don’t want to touch. He’s a kind and quiet man, but Wilder hides scars under long sleeves from a vicious attack that nearly took his life, and he’s determined never to let anyone close enough to hurt him ever again.

And then he meets Lorenzo Moretti, a stranger sitting on a park bench, looking like the world had just kicked him in the gut.

Wilder has seen that look before, for years whenever he looked in the mirror. He knows the disaster that lies ahead, but he can’t deny wanting, even if he knows it’ll be hard work. And Wilder also Lorenzo deserves someone to remain steady and love him through it all. Even if he can’t find the ability to love himself.

Amazing!

I recently read this book. The audio version is so much better. It truly comes to life. Wilder and Lorenzo stole my heart. They're both so, I don't want to say broken because they really aren't. Damaged I suppose is what I'm going for. They're exactly what the other needs and they come into each others lives at the right time.

I'm super picky about narrators and Nick Hudson just jumped pretty close to the top. He was very easy to understand. Sometimes in audiobooks side characters come off sounding silly, and that wasn't the case at all in this one. I was fully engrossed from the beginning.

Love Him Steady

Love Him Steady is Book 4 in the On The Market series. I love this beautifully written story about two broken men, Wilder and Lorenzo, who find their way to each other just as they are. I love how gentle and patient they are with one another. A simple act of kindness brought them together. Lorenzo was ready to pack it up and leave Cherry Creek but Wilder saw him sitting outside and brought him a cupcake and some company. I love the bravery and rawness of these characters. I also love them getting their happy ending. Sometimes found family is better than blood. I definitely recommend this book and series.
Narrator Nick Hudson does a marvelous job in this series. He really adds to the emotion of the story.

Love this series!

I love this series and I love this book. I love reading about people who are imperfect and the journey they take to realize imperfections are not a liability. Sometimes it is what makes us unique and the audiobook reflects that mantra. I think these two characters are awesome and can't wait to listen to the next audio.

phenomenal!

E.M. Lindsey has a way of telling a story that will suck you in and not let you go until she has finished telling it. I want to live in Cherry Creek, it feels so real. Lorenzo has come to Cherry Creek to find what his brother Rocco found. He’s not sure what that is but he finds himself instead. Wilder left an abusive relationship and moved to Cherry Creek 3 years ago to find himself and start something of his own. They start out as friends but find love and steadiness. You will feel all the angst and emotion in her story. Nick Hudson did a fantastic job with the narrative, each vocal for each characters were distinct! Fantastic job overall!

Beautiful

EM Lindsey knows how to write some pretty powerful characters and stories. All of the books in this series have moved me in one way or another and this one is no exception. Lorenzo's brokenness and feelings of helplessness and Wilder's quiet confidence are very powerful. It had taken a lot for Wilder to be where he is but everything has been worth it for the future he has built. Amazing story and I LOVE the way Nick Hudson has given these characters life.

Love this Series

This series does a phenomenal job at outlining the issues that some handicapped have. I love the way the characters mature over time and how they grow with each other. Another fabulous story by EM Lindsey. Then add in Nick Hudson's narration. His ability to shift between accents was amazing and made the story so much better. I continue to enjoy this journey that has been laid out and look forward to more.

You soothe the wound in my soul

On the retrospect, it might not have been a good idea to do this book as a standalone since there are a lot of characters from the previous books in the series. Usually, I go for fluffy and romantic type of love stories but this book is a little heavy on angst and trials.

Both main characters has a lot of inner demons they had to overcome and they are both two very lonely men who are somewhat detached from the world. Although it’s a bit heavy handed in angst, the hurt-comfort part was really quite satisfying to read. Plus, Nick Hudson did a wonderful job narrating this story. I think I would check previous books in the series to better enjoy this booo. Might do a relisten on this one after I have finished listening the previous books in the series.

Great hurt/comfort story!

I really liked this audiobook. It’s a great hurt/comfort book. I liked how both men really found themselves in this book. I loved how Lorenzo evolved. My heart broke for Wilder. He went through so much to get where he was. I love how gentle Lorenzo was with him. They really were a perfect match for each other. I enjoy all the friendship that have grown in Cherry Creek! Nick Hudson did a great job with the narration.

Wilder and Lorenzo Find Love in Cherry Creek

Small-town Cherry Creek is the setting for romance in EM Lindsey’s 4th book of the ‘On the Market’ series. This time it’s bakery owner Wilder and newcomer Lorenzo sharing a love connection.

This is my favorite book of the series so far. Everything about it is terrific. Lindsey has written a story that feels tailor-made for me. There’s the quaint small town, a clueless newcomer, residents ready with their advice, stranger-hating goats used for comic effect (Ouch!), and two men hesitant about love but wanting it all the same.

With Lorenzo being new in town, he goes through some rom-com hijinks at the beginning. Once Wilder and Lorenzo meet, there are several wonderful getting-to-know-you scenes. Because Wilder’s had an abusive past and Lorenzo’s life has lack ed direction and purpose, both men feel undeserving of love, causing the story to get emotionally heavy. It got me teary-eyed at times. But, take heart, readers, Lindsey puts everything right and gives Lorenzo and Wilder a satisfyingly well-deserved happily-ever-after.

Narrator Nick Hudson does a stellar job with this entire series. His performance here, with Linsay’s fabulous writing and his amazing voice-acting, really steps up to next-level greatness.

This review represents my honest and voluntary opinions for ‘Love Him Steady’, a book that was given to me, at my request, as a free review copy.

Highly recommended.

Finally Wilder

Since being introduced to Wilder I have been waiting for his story. I loved it. I was not disappointed and this was the perfect story for him. Lorenzo was not who i was expecting as his love interest but he was a great character.

Healing

Nick Hudson's performance is just stunning here. He brings to perfect life these two characters who need so much healing and comfort. We watch Wilder and Lorenzo slowly open up and learn to trust and love again and we get to see old friends in Cherry Creek. Nothing could be better.

Getting so many feelings for Wilder!

This is a great addition to the series. Love in every book is not easy but so worth it at the end. Wilder is deaf but not completely, and he suffered as a kid being the hearing sibling. He has had a hard life but finds a second chance at the bakery. Lorenzo comes to Cherry Creek to find what his brother has. He is the only one in the family who doesn’t think he doesn’t deserve what he has. He wants to find his own way. Both find a complement in each other. I loved the other characters, specially Raphael and my favorite scene was the one with the goat. The narration was also great.

Full of emotion and angst, with beautiful HEA

I loved this beautiful romance. Wilder's story absolutely broke my heart. In a family where everyone else was deaf, he never fit in. It was unbelievable that a mother could be so cruel to her child because he wasn't disabled! Then, after he finally got away from her, still wounded, he fell into a horrible, abusive relationship and almost died. Yet, he survived and persevered, and found his place in Cherry Creek. His journey was incredible. What a survivor! And his mother? Even when he actually did become legally deaf, she still didn't accept him. She was just an absolute monster. As I listened to her during the funeral scenes, in my mind I just kept calling her the B* word over and over...everything she said and did...just awful. And Wilder was so patient and peaceful. I LOVED his personal growth and his actions at the funeral service. It was just the perfect send-off. He had found his family in Cherry Creek, he didn't need his birth family any more.

I did not find it as easy to relate to Lorenzo. He struck me as a spoiled, selfish man. He has money, courtesy of his brother, but no motivation to do anything with it. He seemed all like 'poor me' and I just couldn't feel sorry for him. He did grow and become a better person during the story, but he was more a catalyst for other people, like Wilder and Rafael, to exhibit their kindness and goodness. Lorenzo wasn't a bad person, and I'm glad he found his HEA, I just didn't feel like he deserved so much sympathy. Unlike Wilder, Lorenzo's misery was of his own making. Still a good story overall. Wilder, Rafael, and the other Cherry Creek denizens made up for my apathy toward Lorenzo.

The narration by Nick Hudson was fantastic. He is great with expressing character emotions and spectacular with giving them distinct and individual voices. Perfect pacing and delivery, too.

I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

Wilder, Lorenzo & Robert the Goat

Okay, so I have to explain my title without giving too much away. Love Him Steady is the fourth book in the On the Market series and this goat is quite notorious. His greeting of Lorenzo is funny/painful and I’m sure the male readers cringed. But Lorenzo is set on fitting in with Cherry Creek, and that means going back and facing the creature. The second time goes well. But Lorenzo almost didn’t stay. He’s Rocco’s older brother (from the first book) and he’s come to Cherry Creek to make something of his life. He’s been living off his brother’s money, and although it’s rankled, he’s done it anyway. Now he’s nearing midlife with little to show.

Wilder has been a Cherry Creek resident for a while. He’s settled in and runs a gluten-free bakery (that made me cringe as much as Robert the goat’s antics but I’ve never tried it so I guess I should add it to my adventures in food…) Wilder’s story isn’t easy. Born to deaf parents, he was ostracized because he could hear, and it wasn’t until he went to university that he realized how abused emotionally he’d been. Then he fell into a bad relationship (bad is an understatement) and his life went downhill. But eventually he got out – barely – and he found he loved baking.

Rocco is deaf, so Lorenzo learned to sign at an early age, and was always protective of his little brother. Wilder, of course, learned to sign early as well since he was surrounded by deaf people. Now he needs that skill increasingly.

The attraction isn’t instantaneous, but grows over time. Lorenzo also starts making a few friends in town after a disastrous start. Cherry Creek residents have chosen that location for the simplicity, and a big shot from the city rarely goes over well. But Wilder sees Lorenzo for who he is, and the bond deepens. Then Wilder faces a tragedy and is thrown back into the world where he was never accepted but is now needed. I admired him for being the better man and doing what needed to be done. I don’t think I would have been so forgiving.

There are more books to come and I can say I’m thrilled for it. I’ll also mention Nick Hudson who is doing a great job narrating this series. I’m waiting impatiently for the next audio.

Very Emotional Story, Lovely Performance by Hudson

Love Him Steady, the fourth book of E.M. Lindsey's On the Market series, is an emotional, angsty hurt/comfort romance with a (thankfully) lovely happily ever after. The main characters are both sad and very lonely, needing to give and receive a massive amount of care.

There's a large cast of characters who pop in and out of the story, so it might not be a great choice as a standalone. I really enjoy Nick Hudson's narration, and *gah* that cover, so I couldn't resist.

Nick Hudson gives a lovely performance, and he brings to life every bit of the emotion E.M. Lindsey has written into these men.

An emotionally satisfying hurt/comfort romance

The first time I read Lorenzo and Wilder's story, I didn't know if I was going to make it to the end. From graphic depictions of abuse to dealing with the loss of a loved one, this story didn't pull any punches. Listening to the audio was equally hard-hitting, but knowing that things would turn out okay in the end made it easier for me to listen through some of the most painful moments. I found myself broken-hearted and devastated multiple times as I listened to Nick Hudson narrate everything Wilder and Lorenzo had been through. That being said, for every moment that I wanted to cry, there were equally many moments that made my heart swell with joy. Hearing Lorenzo shake off his feelings of unworthiness and form a true, unconditional friendship with Raphael was amazing. Hearing Wilder open himself up to love after several years of not seeing any forward path was heartwarming. And watching the patient, painstaking way these two men fell for each other, not in a whirlwind romance but in a slow, deep burn, absolutely melted me. This story was undoubtedly a hurt/comfort romance, but the comfort overshadowed all the pain this story contained. I am once again in awe of Elaine's writing--the way they can take two seemingly random people and meld their souls together so perfectly is something no author has been able to replicate for me.

Such an emotional story!

Wilder was wonderful. Such an emotional story. Healing takes time and Wilder has suffered enough. His story is hard fort and he still has such a capacity for kindness. He sees a man looking defeated and that single moment changes lives.

This was a challenging story, that broke my heart and weaved it back together. I am always amazed by E.M.'s writing, to so raw, real and compelling, it pulls you apart and slowly stitches you back together.

I think I'm emotionally hungover from this one, but this author, their stories and this series in particular are truly something special!
