After Betty Ramdin’s husband dies, she invites a colleague, Mr. Chetan, to move in with her and her son, Solo. Then, one fateful night, Solo overhears Betty confiding in Mr. Chetan and learns a secret that plunges him into torment.

Solo flees Trinidad for New York to carve out a lonely existence as an undocumented immigrant, and Mr. Chetan remains the singular thread holding mother and son together. But soon, Mr. Chetan’s own burdensome secret is revealed, with heartbreaking consequences. Love After Love interrogates love and family in all its myriad meanings and forms, asking how we might exchange an illusory love for one that is truly fulfilling.

What honesty and heartbreak and love!

Than you for creating a space for Caribbean people to see themselves... the good and the bad! This book talked about the things we never talk about but are dying from. I appreciate the care and authenticity in which each character was developed and portrayed. I loved it!

Rollercoaster Ride of Emotions

This book brought the toils of any one life to attention but did not stop there. Love as it should be... a healing balm took on many a shapes.
This book was wonderfully written!

An absolutely wonderful book!

The author’s narration makes really brings this lovely book to life.
It’s a terrific, though quite sad at times story, with characters often flawed, but thoroughly lovable.
So glad I found this gem.

Oh My Goodness

Not for the sensitive on social issues, that being said Oh My Goodness Excellent!
The narrator did an amazing job.
The story is heart warming, captivating and heartbreaking all at the same time.
It really held my attention that I kept going back to it over the days and weeks until I finished it.
Must listen until the end!!!!

God is love

This book transported me to sights, sounds and culture of Trinidad while delving into the lives of these three characters. No topic was off limit. No emotion was left unchecked. I laughed, cried and chups teeth with every bend and twist in this plot.

A story of family

So well written and beautifully narrated. It’s rare to find an author who is also an excellent reader. This is a wonderful story of family. I loved the characters.

A Book I Can Connect With

Wow. surprising storyline, and overall phenomenal read. The culture, Solo’s travel to Queens, and Mr. Chetan’s storyline were all things I connected with, and I was not disappointed. The way the story branches out was so surprising... but to me it wasn’t too far from unrealistic- it made sense. I am awed Ms. Ingrid Persaud. Love the narration, from the superb use of colloquialisms even to the onomatopoeias.

This book offers an intriguing reflection on love, suffering, and loss. Quite unforgettable, I loved it.

This was such a beautiful well written story. I felt every word in this book. An amazing story of love and lost. I highly recommend this book.

Great book

TRIGGER WARNING: this book discusses domestic violence, suicide attempts, self-harm, and violence on homosexuality.

This book brought out different emotions for me. I was ticked off at the son and his reactions to his mother. I didn’t like how he treated her after he found out her secret. I enjoyed reading about the different culture (Trinidad). The characters flowed smoothly. I recommend to all ages.
