Could Be Cute with Different Narrator

Honestly, the writing of the author is pleasant for a short story. There were a few times that the jokes or dialogue made me giggle, but unfortunately, the narrator is just so monotone and his accent creates some confusion on certain words. It felt like listening to someone just randomly pick up a book and start reading just to get through it. There was barely any differentiation between characters. I almost DNF, but since it was only an hour long, I pushed to the end. It really shouldn't be that hard to get through a book that is technically shorter than a Hallmark movie. The editing of the story was lackluster; a few chapters were cut short with the narrator being cut-off mid-word.

It's really disappointing because I really did enjoy the story itself. With it being such a short book, there wasn't much room to build the characters love story and so I found that lacking. The ending of the "mystery" was more poetic than shocking and the author did a nice job of allowing the ending to be very human and relatable. That being said, I don't think I'll be keeping this title or listening to it again. The narrator just couldn't keep me engaged.
