Publisher's Summary

Undeterred by world war and enemy submarines, Amelia and Emerson set sail once again for Egypt, where ghosts of an ancient past and spectres of a present-day evil hover silently over an inscrutable land.

In the autumn of 1915 Cairo is transformed into an army camp teeming with enemy agents and shockingly bold tomb robbers are brazenly desecrating the ancient sites. Amelia seeks refuge at a remote dig in Luxor, but this provides no guarantee of safety when she discovers a fresh corpse in an ancient tomb. But are the Emersons in even darker danger with the intervention of one of Amelias oldest and most dangerous adversaries? Tantalizing clues suggest this might be so, and point toward an archaeological discovery of unparalleled importance - and the resurrection of a voice that has been silent for millennia.

Unabridged finally!

As a fan of the series, I'm so excited to finally have the missing books available in unabridged audio.

Lord of the Silent

Elizabeth Peters is a master with the English Language! Her dry sense of humor has me chuckling continuously throughout the books. I also love the fact that they imply, but don't go into graphic detail with the violence and intimacy. Barbara Rosenblats narration is wonderful, and make the book three dimensional. She has, over many books given life to a head strong brilliant little Ramses, to an adult young man Ramses. Her narration enlivens the spirit in which the books are written.

Admirable Follow-Up 2 "He Shall Thunder in the Sky

Fans of Elizabeth Peter's "Amelia Peabody" series will not be disappointed with "Lord of the Silent". The progression of character development is good. The story moves very quickly in some sections (almost too quickly) but the story is sound.
Barbara Rosenblat as the narrator is terrific as usual with only a few minor slips in character.
I would love to find more writers and series as entertaining as this! Good, clean, fun!

Another well crafted story

My only sorrow is Thai know these tales are coming to an end. Only a few more chances left to be a part of the eccentric and delightful Emerson family And TO Enjoy Peters tongue in cheek humorous and loving portrayal of her characters
Barbara Rosenblat is unequaled in her narrational abilities I believe Amelia would agree

always a joy

The Amelia Peabody stories are in my view absolutely great when read by Barbara Rosenblatt. I can find now fault except that the story was maybe not quite as good as some of the others in the series.
For newcomers to the series start with "crocodiles on the sandbank" read by Barbara Rosenblatt, it really makes a big difference who the narrator is.

Enjoy

Thieves or Spies

I enjoyed this tale as well as other Elizabeth Peters books. Barbara Rosenblat makes them come alive.

Lord of the Silent

Another great episode in the Amelia Peabody series. They never fail to disappoint: a wonderful combination of mystery and history. For those who love this genre, one could not do better! My only disappointment is that the series is beginning to draw to an end!

Love this series

I have read all of the books multiple times. I have all in hardback and in Audible. I have found author Deanna Raybourn and her Veronica Speedwell to be quite enjoyable.

Enjoying this series

I’ve read every book in the series and very much look forward to the next. The story-line while sometimes a bit too male-bashing is still great overall and I absolutely love this narrator. When I’ve finished this series I will search for more from this narrator.

Another great episode

You would think Egypt would run out of villains who would interfere and/or try to murder or threaten the Emerson’s. Have no fear! Another interesting mystery, always within the plot or subplot of your favorite characters and their love lives. Barbara Rosenblat brings them all to life again. Enjoy!
