Publisher's Summary

I met her among the chaos of a gang fight - one that I inadvertently started.

Ember.

Beautiful, feisty, and passionate. And the sister of Mercy, an infamous assassin. We fell for each other, hard. Until forces outside of our control intervened.

Now, she's a prisoner, doing everything she can to keep her family safe. And I'm her guard, doing everything I can to set her free.

I'd take a bullet for her. Hell, I'd take a few.

In this dark, twisted world, we only have each other. But I have to wonder, is that enough?

From the author of MERCY and HAVOC comes a new standalone about love, family, loyalty, and sacrifice.

Those voices this story!!

I was head over heels in love with this book when i read it. Then I found out who was going to be doing the narrations and got even more excited in my life. The narrators for this are seriously amazing. They help bring an already amazing story to life.

Anastasis outdid herself when writing Lock and these narrators filled those shoes making sure this story was told perfectly.
Ember and Lock are perfect for each other. The wittiness between then was great. But also we were shown just how much they needed one another to survive their situations. They leaned on one another when there was no one else around. They were the Lock and Key.

It was also great to see the relationship between Ember and Mercy develop more into that brother and sister bond. We see just how much they mean to each other and we understand a little more why Mercy is the way he is. And there there is Animal. We got to see what was going on from Mercy and Animal’s point of view even though the story is about Ember and Lock. We also see how much Animal values Ember.

If you are looking for a great book to listen to with amazing voices Lock is your go to. Buy it and listen.

Stupid girl

I’m about halfway through this book, and I find it hard to believe I’m the only one who thinks the heroine is acting stupid by not telling her brother she’s in trouble! Like your brother is a fr...king killer, and you who don’t know shit has to protect him ??? Shmm

An amazing rollercoaster of emotion

Buckle up and make sure the lip is on your glass and the screen protector on your reading device because it is going to be a BUMPY ride

Ember hasn't had the smoothest of lives up to now and when she decides she wants a normal college life her brother and over protective friends are less than supportive -- and then Lock falls into her life --literally. They meet during a gang fight and it just gets more harrowing from there.

I almost got whiplash from all the crazy plot twists and I think I totally held my breath for several pages as I read this one!
It might be Ms Anastasia's best ever

The narrators selected for this are perfect fits andcapture the characters perfectly

100% complete hit!

this book reminded me of why I feel in love with these characters and this author!!
I wasn't thrilled with Havoc, but Mercy is one of my all time favorite books and this book is definitely on a level with Mercy! I loved the chemistry between lock and Ember, it was instant, funny and sexy, innocent and sweet. it reminded me of being a young kid in love! Those two went through so much, had so much thrown at them and they always find a way back to each other! I dont know where this "series" could go from here, maybe a second book about Becka and Nix, but it definitely was left open (not in a cliffhanger way) and I would read anything else this author has to offer in an instant!!

Had a few shortcomings!

I want to start by complimenting the narration; it was spectacular!
However, my reaction to Ember’s, the Heroine’s, immaturity, made me feel very old. I raised four girls and I know that teenagers can be selfish, but I didn’t think I was going to be able to complete the book. Luckily, in the later chapters, she gets a reality check, and starts acting her age. The other negative comment I have is that the plot was pretty darn predictable. That’s not always a bad thing but, the previous two books were so unique that I felt a bit of a let down.
Overall, I have been really impressed with this author’s ability to reach her audience, on an emotional level. I really found myself really getting invested in the characters and their plight.
I would have definitely spent the three credits, to add these to my library. However, since they are included in the Romance package, I was able to enjoy them as part of my monthly fee.

Love the series, didnt like Ember at all.

Overall, i adore this series, the narrators are deeeelicious, and most of the characters are wonderful, but then i guess still cudos for Ms. Debra because the characters she imagined came to life when read.

I absolutely hated Ember. From the moment she began talking in the first two books. She is an entitled, selfish, brat who whines about everything and is gratful for nothing. I get that her life may not have been awesome, but she wasnt abused, she didnt want for anything, she was just alone and maybe decieved, but geez get angry, get smart, and get over it already. If the aim was to bring that brattiness to life... nailed it!
i found myself skipping over parts with just her to get to parts with other characters, especially Lock and Mercy.

Lock, on the otherhand was beautiful. I loved his spirit, his heart, and could visualize him as a person the whole time i listened to this, partially due to the great narration.

The book overall was great. I enjoyed the twists and turns and fabulous writing. Its worth the time and the credit.

I love this series. I love these narrators. Love.

I want more of this series. Hopefully there will be a book on the little girl. And don’t get me started on the narrators... the best. Rose was great but I’m pretty sure listening to the smooth voices of Charles and Webber will get you pregnant- so be warned.

Great author, great story

With each book in this series the author has hooked me in and now she’s definitely added onto my list of authors I continuously look for on Audible to see if there are any new releases. This books a fantastic addition to the series, and I think it’s the first time I’ve seen an instalove/lust moment that was actually believable and felt a bit like that Romeo and Juliet moment in the film from the 1990s. Plenty of relationship development, plot, fun and adventure; and the instalove doesn’t take away from the building relationship development excitement because there are so many barriers thrown in their way. And can I just say, like my review for the last book in this series where he was first featured, Benjamin Charles has got to have the most sexy voice I have ever heard on Audible. Why does he not have more books on here? He only had a minor role in this book, but it was so expressive and well acted, as well as sounding good. Perfect match for the character he plays too (Animal/Havoc). I never thought I’d fan girl a narrator, but I think for the first time in my life I’m becoming a typical teenage girl as I missed that infatuation phase when I was that age. Sighhhhhh...
