Publisher's summary

I met her among the chaos of a gang fight - one that I inadvertently started.

Ember.

Beautiful, feisty, and passionate. And the sister of Mercy, an infamous assassin. We fell for each other, hard. Until forces outside of our control intervened.

Now, she's a prisoner, doing everything she can to keep her family safe. And I'm her guard, doing everything I can to set her free.

I'd take a bullet for her. Hell, I'd take a few.

In this dark, twisted world, we only have each other. But I have to wonder, is that enough?

From the author of MERCY and HAVOC comes a new standalone about love, family, loyalty, and sacrifice.

Stupid girl

I’m about halfway through this book, and I find it hard to believe I’m the only one who thinks the heroine is acting stupid by not telling her brother she’s in trouble! Like your brother is a fr...king killer, and you who don’t know shit has to protect him ??? Shmm

Those voices this story!!

I was head over heels in love with this book when i read it. Then I found out who was going to be doing the narrations and got even more excited in my life. The narrators for this are seriously amazing. They help bring an already amazing story to life.

Anastasis outdid herself when writing Lock and these narrators filled those shoes making sure this story was told perfectly.
Ember and Lock are perfect for each other. The wittiness between then was great. But also we were shown just how much they needed one another to survive their situations. They leaned on one another when there was no one else around. They were the Lock and Key.

It was also great to see the relationship between Ember and Mercy develop more into that brother and sister bond. We see just how much they mean to each other and we understand a little more why Mercy is the way he is. And there there is Animal. We got to see what was going on from Mercy and Animal’s point of view even though the story is about Ember and Lock. We also see how much Animal values Ember.

If you are looking for a great book to listen to with amazing voices Lock is your go to. Buy it and listen.

I fell in love with this book over and over again!

These narrators delivered such a phenomenal performance! I loved this book so much in ebook and the audio made me fall even more in love with it 😍 There aren't even enough words to describe how perfect these three narrators are♥️

Had a few shortcomings!

I want to start by complimenting the narration; it was spectacular!
However, my reaction to Ember’s, the Heroine’s, immaturity, made me feel very old. I raised four girls and I know that teenagers can be selfish, but I didn’t think I was going to be able to complete the book. Luckily, in the later chapters, she gets a reality check, and starts acting her age. The other negative comment I have is that the plot was pretty darn predictable. That’s not always a bad thing but, the previous two books were so unique that I felt a bit of a let down.
Overall, I have been really impressed with this author’s ability to reach her audience, on an emotional level. I really found myself really getting invested in the characters and their plight.
I would have definitely spent the three credits, to add these to my library. However, since they are included in the Romance package, I was able to enjoy them as part of my monthly fee.

Err!

The depths of her immaturity was hard to swallow. I understood her feelings of insecurity regarding how her family treated her but how she acted out was dangerously stupid. Err...this is one of the most irritating females in the series!

Lock....... hhmmm totally new book boyfriend

Lock totally made this book sooooo much better. Because I really wanted to shake amber soooo many times. She is too naive and irritating. But Lock was a true survivor and a descent human being.
Narration is awesome. Zachary Webber, I could listen to his voice all day.

series went from 5⭐️ To 1⭐️ in just three books

Ugh, where to begin with how awful this book was?

I loved book 1 (Mercy) because it had a dangerous guy, a smart, feisty gal, and a great balance of dark and humor. Also, book 1 had very little gang violence and, although the lead was part of the criminal world, he spent 99% of the book doing good things.

I liked book 2 (Havoc) because, even though the cast embraced the criminal world, there was still a powerful story behind T and Animal’s road to their HEA.

I hated this book.

For all the things that drove me nuts about this book, the two common aspects to them were the absurdity of the plot and the boredom in trudging through this mess of a book:

This book is infected with gang-life and I could no longer suspend disbelief and pretend the couples in the series are good people. The story starts with Lock nobly stepping in to protect a girl… but by the midpoint, Lock leaves two other girls with some kingpin knowing they’ll be forced to perform or die. In this book it also becomes clear that all the couples will stay in the thug lifestyle and that holds zero appeal for me.

The first half of this book is a horribly written Romeo/Juliet variation, with a teenage romance between 19year old Ember, a sheltered brat, and Lock, freshly jumped into a gang. We’re supposed to believe that Ember leaves town, goes away for college, and yet coincidentally runs into a turf war between the red and blue bandanna wearing Cokes and Pepsis (seriously folks, named after soda🙄).

The second half gets even more absurd as the new gang in the new town is coincidentally connected to the old gangs from the first two books. There’s a beyond ridiculous plot about frame jobs and innocent Ember turning away all the hardened criminals who can protect her.

The romance had zero chemistry and is a slow burn until nearly the end, when they get busy during life threatening circumstances… because these two kiddos are TSTL. Sadly, I’ve lost all respect for this series. Should’ve stopped at book 1.

I need more of Lock in my life!

Debra Anastasia blew me away with Mercy and Havoc so I was excited to finally get my hands on the audio of Lock! I was not a huge fan of Ember’s when we met her in the previous books, she was immature and selfish. I did have to keep reminding myself that she was a sheltered teenager and was pretty much on point for one that was acting out and rebelling. Even with my reminding, it was tempting to clobber her over the head for not telling her brother what was going on… but fear can make you do some stupid things. Lock Lock Lock, he was seriously perfection! While I love Mercy, Lock might be my new favorite male of the group… he was just such an utter nice guy it was surprising, especially with his occupation. Lock's completely love struck attitude when they met in the pizza parlor was hilarious and his attempts at courting Ember were just too cute! I love how Debra Anastasia has the ability to write dark romance books without making them too dark, there was obviously murder but she stayed away from drugs, BDSM and rape which is usually big in some of the darker books. The only thing that confused me was the different point of views the story was told in. I understand Ember and Lock, but I was surprised by Animal’s POV… if anything I would have thought it would have been Nix's since he was going through such turmoil when Ember left.

While I am sure the ebook was great on it’s own, the narrator’s brought this book to life! I was on board for the audio once I saw Zachary Webber's name because he is always perfection. Rose Dioro did an amazing job as Ember, she had such a young and innocent voice that it really made her character. Benjamin Charles deep voice as animal was completely sinful! There are absolutely no negatives about the narration!!

Blown away by this Audio book!

So I loved Lock when I read it. I loved it hard! Then when this released in Audio in March I immediately downloaded it. I finally got to listen to it over the past week and let me tell you, I have fallen even more in love with Lock now hearing his voice. Audio books for me are hit and miss. Most of the time I can't get on board with the narrators voices, but this was absolutely amazing! The story of Lock and Ember being brought to live by 2 amazing narrators, and then having the mix in of a few other characters we love was simply entertaining. I found myself desperate to drive to work the next day just so I could listen to more! Read it, listen to it, however you decide to dive into this story, just do it NOW!

Great author, great story

With each book in this series the author has hooked me in and now she’s definitely added onto my list of authors I continuously look for on Audible to see if there are any new releases. This books a fantastic addition to the series, and I think it’s the first time I’ve seen an instalove/lust moment that was actually believable and felt a bit like that Romeo and Juliet moment in the film from the 1990s. Plenty of relationship development, plot, fun and adventure; and the instalove doesn’t take away from the building relationship development excitement because there are so many barriers thrown in their way. And can I just say, like my review for the last book in this series where he was first featured, Benjamin Charles has got to have the most sexy voice I have ever heard on Audible. Why does he not have more books on here? He only had a minor role in this book, but it was so expressive and well acted, as well as sounding good. Perfect match for the character he plays too (Animal/Havoc). I never thought I’d fan girl a narrator, but I think for the first time in my life I’m becoming a typical teenage girl as I missed that infatuation phase when I was that age. Sighhhhhh...

Dark, intense and totally riveting! The story of Lock and Ember is crammed full of jeopardy, loss and love. There are so many richly drawn characters and they are brought to life by the inestimable skills of three very talented narrat Zachary Webber, Benjamin Charles and Rose Dioro are all nuanced, believable and fabulous to listen to. I was captivated. 💚🧡💜❤️💖

AMAZING

This book was amazing! I don't have words for this book! This is definitely in my favourites list. This story holds the perspective of three people, however, the romance is a monogamous one. The three perspectives are Lock, Ember, and Animal who is a character close to Ember who gives information to the reader about the information going on around while they live the life separated which was really clever and didn't interfere with the story at all. The romance in this story is really sweet and makes you really wonder if such an awesome romance is out there. While that sounded really icky and lovey-dovey, the romance is awesome and if you are someone that likes this kind of story, you won't be disappointed. I listened to this as an audiobook and loved all three narrators. I thought they definitely fit the characters and definitely added extra to the whole book. I definitely don't regret reading/listening to this book and would recommend it to those that love this genre. I loved this book!
