Publisher's summary

From breakout debut author Chelsea Ichaso comes Little Creeping Things, a thoroughly enjoyable YA suspense novel with a narrator who can't be trusted, perfect for fans of Natasha Preston. She never meant to hurt anyone....

When she was a child, Cassidy Pratt accidentally started a fire that killed her neighbor. At least, that's what she's been told. She can't remember anything from that day. She's pretty sure she didn't mean to do it. She's a victim, too. But her town's bullies, particularly the cruel and beautiful Melody Davenport, have never let her live it down. In Melody's eyes, Cassidy is a murderer and always will be.

And then Melody goes missing, and Cassidy thinks she may have information about what happened. She knows she should go to the cops, but...she recently joked about how much she'd like to get rid of Melody. She even planned out the perfect way to do it. And then she gets a chilling text from an unknown number: I'm so glad we're in this together.

Now it's up to Cassidy to figure out what's really going on, before the truth behind Melody's disappearance sets the whole town ablaze.

Creepy in a good way

3.5 STARS

The cover of LITTLE CREEPING THINGS is one of my all time favorites, even though it has very little to do with the story. At age seven, Cassidy accidentally starts a fire that kills her best friend. Ten years later she’s having psychotic visions about the day she can’t remember. Then her nemesis is killed in the exact way Cass fantasized and she’s determined to find the real killer, though danger lurks around every corner of her small town.

Getting a feel for Cassidy was extremely difficult. Is she an unreliable narrator due to mental illness or something more sinister. She lives life being rescued by her brother Asher and best friend Gideon, feeling like a victim. She is a victim of bullying and teasing, being called Fire Girl. This didn’t sit right with me, because although kids can be mean, most aren’t so mean to tease about something that happened as a seven-year-old. Cass didn’t have a lot of empathy for anyone other than herself and she wasn’t always kind. Gideon was also a special kind of clueless. He eventually blindly believed all her theories, even when she sounded clinically paranoid.

I guessed the real culprit and motive early on, which didn’t bother me. LITTLE CREEPING THINGS is more mystery than thriller and requires frequent suspensions of belief. I wasn’t glued to my kindle screen, but I did enjoy the small town ambience, interesting characters and plot.

Little Creepy Things

Great book! The main character is very much a traumatized teen. I had to finish this within a day because I had to know the truth! Great narration too!

wow, well done

this book was honestly really enjoyable. it was confusing in some parts but purposely done, and it really added to the depth of the book. it made me question myself every time i thought I had figured out who the killer was.

Unexpected

First I absolutely loved the narration i actually felt the emotions and felt like i was inside the story. The narrator was absolutely amazing. Second the story itself was awesome I kept thinking it was this one person but then the author shocked me with it being the very last person I expected I couldn't stop listening to it i loved it highly recommend
