As if being struck by lightning wasn't bad enough, I spent a month in a coma afterwards. Of course, that was when I was a teenager. It left me with some pretty unusual abilities. For instance, I can find just about anything or anyone. Oh, and I can see ghosts, too!

I pick up extra cash working with the local PD. I'm their go-to girl when they have someone they need to find. Despite all of this, my life is pretty boring - that is, until the very hot Detective Nick Cavanaugh came into my life. Boy, did we get off on the wrong foot. I was asked to pair up with Detective Cavanaugh to look for three missing children. Did I mention that he doesn't believe in my superpowers?

When we discover the children have been kidnapped, the search takes us up into the mountains and old mining towns. With time running out and my abilities going wonky, Cavanaugh is ready to drop me from the case. Pffft! As if that will stop me!

What a great book! I love the sense of humor!

I loved listening to this audiobook. It was much better than I expected. I already got the kindle version for book 2 because I did not want to have to wait for the audiobook to come out. Although, I'll be getting it when it comes out as well.

I don't usually ready mysteries but I'm so glad I made an exception! It has enough romance to keep me satisfied! I could not help cracking up a several times. My family probably thought I was loosing it! Lol

Andromeda helps the police department in finding missing people. She has a special ability to find things & people since she got struck by lightning when she was a teen.

Nick is a new detective and at first a total jerk to Andromeda. He pays for some of his mistakes dearly though. Andromeda and him start working in a case of missing kids that ends up being much bigger than expected.

This book was well written and fun to ready. I'm looking forward to reading more books from this author.

The narrator did fairly good job.

I was given this book in exchange for my honest unbiased opinion.

Come for the suspense, stay for the fun!

REEEALLY loved this one! Finished it in an indecent amount of time. Andromeda is struck by lightning at nearly 17 and in a coma for a month, wakes up with paranormal abilities and no awfulness. Now nurses, just suspend your disbelief that there were no other problems and enjoy the fantasy like other folks. Including the part where she works with the local LEOs for the next 10 years as a paid consultant. Most of her family is a bit off, and she does have a true best friend. Romance comes in the form of a hunky detective who is new to her and her narcoleptic cat, but the suspense is right out of the daily news. Tons of situational humor to have you snorting your coffee, and some of the one-liners are priceless.
Holly Adams is such a great fit here, and really nails the performance!

Quirky, Fun Cozy-Like, Paranormal Romantic Mystery

This was a fun, light mystery that should appeal to varied tastes. Cozy lovers should like it Police detective mystery lovers should like it. Paranormal mystery fans should like it. Romantic suspense fans should like it. And people who like mystery thrillers with humor and quirky characters like the Stephanie Plum series, will love this book.

The book was enjoyable, well written and well performed with many humorous moments. Grandma was a real hoot. And the heroine was sort of a surrogate parent to her own parents as her parents have no business sense.

I am eagerly awaiting the next book of the series as I am eager to see what develops in regards to the sexual sparks between the heroine Andromeda, and the hunky detective Cavanaugh.

What a surprise! This book was so fun!

Any additional comments?

This was my first listen to a book by Theresa Parker. I was pleasantly surprised by how enjoyable it was. I loved how the story took off right away. Sometimes it is difficult to know if you will like a book that you are listening to if the beginning drags and you feel like you have to make a decision about whether to push through and give it a chance or abandon hope for feeling the connection you get when characters are portrayed well. Not this book. This was also my first listen to Holly Adams. Her narration was great for these characters, and it helps that she was able to channel the humor that Ms. Parker has written into Lightning Strikes so well. I am eager to listen to the next book in the series! Let's not take our time on that okay ladies? This book was provided to me by the author in exchange for an honest and unbiased review via Audiobook Blast!

Perfectly hit the spot

Any additional comments?

This book was exactly what I'd been craving, what I needed! The lightness, humor, and matter of fact style was perfect to lift my mood while still providing an intriguing plotline and multidimensional characters. It touched on some serious subjects and always kept my mind engaged and guessing. Sometimes I feel a book is "dumbed down" in the effort to be light-hearted, but this wasn't the case here. I wouldn't doubt that for some people, the style is too silly and doesn't hold a candle to other mystery novels in terms of depth and complexity. But I believe it perfectly served its purpose in being fun and quirky. It's not trying to be anything else, you can't compare! In the end, Lightning Strikes not only allowed me to have a break from "real life" and get lost in Andromeda's world - exactly what I wanted - but it wasn't all fluffy clouds and unicorns like many books of the same genre. This makes it for me one of those rare books that I covet, because you can never seem find them when you need them or try to look for them. When you're feeling sick, in pain (like me), had a bad breakup, or whatever rotten burden life has thrown at you, THIS is the book you want. Not every book has that magical formula that can actually make me forget or even distract me from my chronic pain, but this one does and I only wish there were many more in the series so I could stock them up like medicine, haha. Great Audio!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I got the audio version of this book because the prose just asked to be read aloud. I'm so glad I did. It was fun story with great characters who were very lovable. There were a few niggles for me though. First, a cop who manhandles a consultant and invades her shower is not being an alpha male he's being a bad cop. All the men in Romi's life (the young ones, anyway) behave poorly but if she is attracted to them, like the cop hero, its supposed to be okay, while the others are labelled as pushy slime balls? And though I loved all the zany characters and the insights into the life of the heroine I kept thinking that she should have been more focused on saving the missing kids, especially after she's seen such horrendous outcomes for them.
