Publisher's summary

From the New York Times, USA Today & Wall Street Journal best-selling Author…

A USA Today best-selling Novel…

The pain was unbearable, but I had to keep moving. I had to keep running, because if I didn't, he'd find me. I looked behind me as I ran through the streets; scared, alone, and in the dark as the mist of rain hit my face. There was no time to think, and there was no time to stop. My shoes were soaked as they sloshed through the puddles of the dimly lit streets.

My name is Rory Sinclair, and the night I was violently attacked was the night that changed my life forever. One man, a man named Ian Braxton, made it his mission to heal me, to save me, and to show me a world that previously had been only a dream to me.

Ian Braxton is far from perfect. He's a self-absorbed, demeaning, arrogant, and womanizing millionaire. He makes it so easy to hate him, but so very hard to resist him. We're from opposite sides of the spectrum. He comes from money and I come from poverty. When our worlds collide, his struggles become mine, and mine become his, leaving us with one question:

How much would you give up to be with someone who was meant to be yours?

so good!

The angst in this one almost killed me but I really enjoyed this story! Great narration!

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. The fact that I was gifted this book had no influence over my opinion of it.

Powerful story with angst and emotion

I am always as amazed at the narrator's ability to capture the essence and flavor of characters as I am at how well author's bring characters so vividly into you as you read or listen to the story. Me Kensington was awesome at slipping in and out of each person a as you heard the intricacy of the relationship between Ian and Aurora (Rory) swirl into a rollercoaster of emotions. Ian was undoubtedly a total assets who fought with all he had his growing love for Rory. I often thought Rory was just too darn easy with Ian, but it truly was her useless love for him that broke through his every barrier. I say bravo to both author and narrator for a great romance experience.

Book one and it's a doozy!

Wow Sandi has done it again. Lie Next To Me is Ian and Rory's story. It's very different to the Forever Black series, it's more raw, your emotions go crazy and you're sucked into the story right from the beginning, I savoured every word.

Ian Braxton is arrogant, sexy, rich, powerful and at times frustrating. He saves Aurora aka Rory, he takes her home to care for her. You soon see what kind of person he is deep down, he might be closed off emotionally but you see how caring and gentle he can be. I started to wonder why he would take a stranger into his home and care for her so deeply when he didn't know a thing about her.

Rory's life was anything but easy, she has so much to deal with but remains strong and tries her best under the circumstances. After her attack she wouldn't tell Ian who'd done it, and what haunts her dreams. Everyone needs someone right? Ian is the one person she wants to rely on and get close to, however that can't happen in his eyes.

They have a hard battle ahead of them in more ways than one. Can two people from such different lives let each other in and make each other whole?

A beautifully written story with a roller coaster ride of emotion. I can't wait to read the next book.

narrator annoying

If you want to hear the word smile over a thousand times then it won't annoy you. I found the way the narrator said it highly annoying. Other than that not bad.

Meant to be.....or Wishful thinking

A strong alpha man turns up at the right time. Can is lifestyle change when the woman he saves comes into it?? There are so many reasons for Rori not to stay with a man that wants to control her thoughts and actions . Will she be able to break through his issues?^

I JUST LOVE SANDI LYNN'S BOOKS

Yes, I'll admit Ian's a sexy, handsome and drool worthy millionaire but he's also a womanising douche-bag who's arrogant, demanding and all Alpha so it's kinda hard to like him at first. But, as time went on, his feelings grew for poor Rory who's had a lot of hardship in her life and a mentally challenged twin to look after but that has just made her stronger. Thankfully, she didn't take Ian's bullsh*t and as a result of this he became much more likeable as his character did a 180 degree turn and so could Rory actually be 'the one' to finally catch this rich Playboy's heart..... and will she then be able to keep him.

Total implausible plot..... but so what this is romantic FICTION and I love it. Right from the start it captured me, held my attention and I was desperate to find out if they were going to get their much deserved HEA. But, as there's a book 2 I doubt whether things are going to run smoothly for long. Instant chemistry, sizzling sex and dirty talk, angst, a cast of likeable (and a couple of nasty) secondary individuals and great character development makes this a very enjoyable and entertaining listen.

Told from Rory's POV and the narrator was great at both the female (and perhaps more importantly) the male voices.

Worth a credit? Rory is definitely a damsel in distress but will Ian turn out to be her knight in shining armour and save her or perhaps it will be the other way round? Only time and the second book will reveal the answers to that question.... so this is actually a 2 credit listen and I'm happily off to listen to book 2 knowing that this was a credit well spent and hoping book 2 won't disappoint.

Loved it!

Sandi Lynn sure knows how to make you fall in love with all the characters in her books! Ian and Rory had remarkable chemistry and spark.

Rory is a girl who's life has been full of pain and suffering. She was left to care for herself and her mentally ill twin brother after her mother died when she was just a child.

Ian is a handsome millionaire who doesn't do love or relationships. He is with a different woman almost every night.

Ian saves Rory after finding her stabbed and bleeding on the street. He takes care of her and wants to basically be friends with benefits. Rory finds herself falling in love with him even as he continually lets her know he doesn't do relationships. However, his actions don't always match his words. He's so kind one moment and then pushes her away the next.

Rory can't take the heartbreak and leaves. Will her leaving make Ian see what he is missing, or will he continue to deny his feelings?

Rory and Ian, the beginning..

Oh my goodness, I wanted to kill Ian and wanted to heal him at the same time. Rory may have been shattered but nothing compared to Ian's crumpled life. I was enthralled from beginning to end. It didn't bore me for a minute even though it gave ma a push and pull feeling all the way. I just kept being drawn in and I really thought... "Girl, I'm sorry, but you are just going to have to turn away, there is nothing for you to do here" and then oh my... I'm not saying anymore because I don't want to spoil anything. Definitely worth a listen and once again Sandi Lynn delivered a beautiful, captivating love story. I'm ready for part two, there's a lot to be explained, the letter for one, where will Andre fit into this story, douche-bag Andrew, yuck, although..., what could possibly happen next?

I thought this story was amazing, harsh in some parts, but I loved that she gave it back to Ian as much as he fave it to her.
