Publisher's Summary

Detective Harriet Blue is a very good cop...gone very bad.

In the space of a week, she has committed theft and fraud, resisted arrest, assaulted a police officer, and is considered a dangerous fugitive from the law.

It's all because of one man: Regan Banks. He viciously killed the only person in the world who matters to Harriet - and he plans to kill her next.

As she recklessly speeds toward the dark side - and finally crosses it - Harriet won't stop until Regan pays for the many lives he has taken.

Awful. Naration

The narator was so dry and lifeless, I wanted to reach thru my phone and slap her. I couldn't finish listening due to her. m9notone voice. Do yourself a favor, buy the book and read it. I will never buy a book narated by Federay Holmes

Terrific

Another great Blue novel but a hell of a way to end. Now we have to wait again for the next Blue. One of the great things about this series is the narrator. Miss Holmes is dynamic and keeps you on the edge all the time. She is a pleasure to listen too. If you can fall in love with a narrator Federay Holmes is one. Thank You for a great listen.

Can't put the book down

I literally couldn't stop listening ...I listened while cooking, driving, in bed, and even when others were watching TV. The trilogy is amazing and the narrator is also amazing. I can hardly wait to read other books by this author and narrator.

A good book but...

I just hate it when it leaves the story unfinished. Just like the last one you’ll have to buy the next one to get the ending. I guess that keeps me buying them. Love the characters and the story. I hate having to wait for the next one.

Lots of twists & turns. Enjoyable read.

I really enjoyed the explanation at the end of the killers mental health and what started his sickness.

I love James Patterson but this series is awful!

The narrator makes this book very difficult to listen to. On top of that, the storyline isn't believable at all. I only listened to the entire book because I hate to start something and not finish it. I don't recommend this book.

Women controlled by men

I’m used to reading about female detectives written by women. When confronted by danger these narrative get interesting because the heroine’s survival instinct kicks in and she starts thinking and acting to protect herself.

This will not Happen in this book. the first victim becomes mesmerized and frozen and under the male villains thrall she does not even try to escape but rather drives him and her daughter to her workplace where she operates on him and then is killed by him.

We are led to believe that despite her abilities as a surgeon she can be led as if in trance to her own slaughter. She has with plenty of opportunities to fight back. She sets herself and her daughter up for an easy kill. This is not normal behavior of an organism with a survival instinct—however in this world women have no will of their own and are easily manipulated by men and led to their deaths.
The main character, a cop who wants vengeance for her brother’s death is then easily manipulated by the same killer as he murders people close to her. She is under his control as he destroys her life. In the climax of the story she nearly kills herself because she spinelessly thinks she is as awful a person as the serial killer—so weak is her will when confronted by an evil man’s abuse. In the final confrontation she must be saved twice from death of course by men. After this she recovers in the hospital and ends up in the bed of a man decades older than her. Men always win in the end.

I read this because it is listed as a female cop led story and because “James Paterson” is supposed to be so great. It feels very Hollywood —a place where most often women never win. The sadism of the killer is horrifically highlighted which I didn’t like.

This “female” cop didn’t seem like an actual woman. She tantrums like a man and beats people up when she’s pissed. She doesn’t like anything cute and she has no feelings but anger. She has no feelings but rather hurts people and damages property-a profile of a dysfunctional man.

She is also portrayed as a kind of monster due to being in foster care — like foster care by itself creates monsters.

The ending is laughable with a dead woman coming back to life to help the killer who shot her and this ridiculous conundrum when the cop nearly kills herself because she takes on the serial killers view of her—such is the power of a man over a woman.

In the end she realizes (unlike the reader), that the male serial killer has been right about her—that she is also a monster and the authors ship her to jail where she will endure more sadistic abuse. Men really do know everything and ultimately all females will learn this in the end.

This is not a good book if you’re looking for a female crime fighter portrayed as a multi dimension actual person. I felt damaged by reading it.
