Good Story, but very depressing

I found this book interesting, but the MC has a extremely depressing life and it though very busy does not get much better. I starts out very much like our world, but then changes( reason explained in book) to a Parallel Earth. Narrator does a good job with the characters and storyline.

Interesting and Different

I had no idea what to expect, the blurb for this book intrigued me so I downloaded it and preceded to listen. I'm so glad I did, the storyline is different, I won't give any spoilers and if you've read the blurb you will know what to expect but be prepared to be taken on a rollercoaster ride which from the very beginning will have you wondering if you have heard right, as our hero Ramona Knox tells us about the first time she met the man called death, Tim to his friends.

The story is about her search to find a missing child, one of a string of children who have been taken by an organised gang, It's her first job after leaving the academy and becoming an agent but what she uncovers will have you on the edge of your seat trying to guess what's coming. But don't bother because you will not guess.

The narration of this book by Jillian Yetter was well done she did a great job with her expressions and brought depth to the characters.

I was given this audiobook as a gift and am voluntarily writing my review.

I enjoyed it but...

It started really well and I was enjoying it up to a point. The narration by Jillian Yetter is good but I find her voice in parts to be strident so much so that there is distortion in the audio. I wish I had had a tone control to adjust it.

The book for the first two thirds of the book was good but the last part was a bit stupid and could have been better thought out I think.

So on the whole enjoyable.

Great book, awesome narration!

Having loved Mercy Road, I was keen to give this book by Gagnier a listen! It hooked me from the first part (a great example of a prologue done well, by the way) and had me keen to know what was really going on the whole time. I loved the mystery element and there were points where I was definitely holding my breath in anticipation! I guessed a couple of the twists, but definitely not all of them!! Loved it. The characters were all interesting. I fell in love with Ramona and Tim right away. Thanks for another work day made fun and quick with a fantastic book!
