Acerca de esta escucha

Lucas Davenport and Virgil Flowers join forces to track down a ruthless killer who will do whatever it takes to keep the past buried, in this latest thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author John Sandford.

Doris Grandfelt, an employee at an accounting firm, was brutally stabbed to death . . . but nobody knew exactly where the crime took place. Her body was found the next night, dumped among a dense thicket of trees along the edge of an urban park, eight miles east of St. Paul, Minnesota. Despite her twin sister Lara Grandfelt’s persistent calls to the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, the killer was never found.

Twenty years later, Lara has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Confronted with the possibility of her own death, she’s determined to find Doris’s killer once and for all. Finally taking matters into her own hands, she dumps the entire investigative file on every true crime site in the world and offers a $5 million reward for information leading to the killer’s arrest. Dozens of true crime bloggers show up looking for both new evidence and “clicks,” and Lucas Davenport and Virgil Flowers are called in to review anything that might be a new lead.

When one of the bloggers locates the murder weapon, Lucas and Virgil begin to uncover vital details about the killer’s identity. But what they don’t know is the killer lurks in plain sight, and with the true crime bloggers blasting every clue online, the killer can keep one step ahead. As the nation maneuvers the detectives closer to the truth, Lucas and Virgil will find that digging up Doris’s harrowing past might just get them buried instead.

The ending was a real disappointment and so unlike Sandford the whole of the story was good but left you hanging at the end

Story like was good

I miss the old reader. I didn't like the ending I hope this story will continue.

bad ending

This book is very good, hard to put down, with characters I have enjoyed for years. The ending was too sudden, however. Hopefully, a sequel will provide a satisfying conclusion.

Great story, sort of

I was a bit surprised by this story… it didn’t feel like a ‘Prey’ novel much at all. The story seemed rushed at times. Occasionally Lucas and Virgil sounded like they were new to the job instead of the seasoned clever characters that have been growing throughout the series. This series remains one of my favorites even if this installment felt like it was written by someone else.

Not so sure about this one

I enjoyed this book just as much as any other Davenport/Flowers story, but I must say the ending caught me off guard. Very abrupt and is the only reason this isn’t getting 5 stars.

Another Davenport Adventure

Excellent storyline, as usual. Solid performance. Interplay between Lucas and Flowers entertaining. Lacks a satisfying conclusion. The antagonist is interesting so a sequel would be welcome.

Lack of a satisfactory conclusion

Virgil Flowers and Lucas Davenport working the same murder case always presents creative, engaging, and, at times, humorous dialogue— Every Time! Clearly the best detective duo out there…kudos to John Sanford for pairing them up in one of their most challenging cases ever. Inventive story line requiring and incorporating unusual case support from “real crime bloggers.” Extremely entertaining with a nearly equal antagonist. Easily, one of the top three Sanford books!

Virgil & Lucas Rock!

Lucas has become shallow and disappointing. Virgil Flowers on the other hand is becoming the star of these watered down, later Sandford novels. Gone is the fire that made the Prey series so damn good.

Virgil Flowers Saves the Day!

I love his books but feel without an ending this was not as good as most.

Open ended finale SAD

This was a wonderful read that I had a hard time putting down. The characters are always so real.
Sanford is a wonderful author and I can’t wait for his next one .
