Publisher's Summary

From the outspoken former governor, a no-holds-barred account of Chris Christie's rise to power through the bare-knuckle politics of New Jersey and his frank, startling insights about Donald Trump from inside the president's inner circle.

After dropping out of the 2016 presidential race, Chris Christie stunned the political world by becoming the first major official to endorse Donald Trump. A friend of Trump's for 15 years, the two-term New Jersey governor understood the future president as well as anyone in the political arena - and Christie quickly became one of Trump's most trusted advisers. Tapped with running Trump's transition team, Christie was nearly named his running mate. But within days of Trump's surprise victory over Hillary Clinton, Christie was in for his own surprise: He was being booted out.

In Let Me Finish, Christie sets the record straight about his tenure as a corruption-fighting prosecutor and a Republican running a Democratic state, as well as what really happened on the 2016 campaign trail and inside Trump Tower. Christie takes listeners inside the ego-driven battles for Trump's attention among figures like Steve Bannon, Corey Lewandowksi, Reince Priebus, Kellyanne Conway, Jeff Sessions, and Paul Manafort. He reveals how the literal trashing of Christie's transition plan put the new administration in the hands of self-serving amateurs, all but guaranteeing the Trump presidency's shaky start. Christie also addresses hot-button issues from his own years in power, including what really went down during Bridgegate. And, for the first time, Christie tells the full story of the Kushner saga: how, as a federal prosecutor, Christie put Jared Kushner's powerful father behind bars - a fact Trump's son-in-law makes Christie pay for later.

Packed with news-making revelations and told with the kind of bluntness few politicians can match, Christie's memoir is an essential guide to understanding the Trump presidency.

Anger and tears

I’m between anger and tears over ‘Let Me Finish’. It’s the first true Trump Administration tell-all, I believe. Christie gives the straight scoop. Some say Woodward’s book ‘Fear’ was first. But ‘Fear’ is based on Steve Bannon’s viewpoint, and ‘Let Me Finish’ contradicts it. I go with Christie on this. Christie’s New Jersey tough guy persona is entertaining and believable. I see him as a bone fide tough guy.

Christie was Trump’s first major Republican Party endorser and was present through the entire campaign. He led the presidential transition team, and all the work it produced was literally trashed. As Christie tells it, we’re all in a big mess because of this - with no end in sight.

Stories of Michael Flynn, Paul Manafort and Jared Kushner have the ring of truth. Christie gives the run down on staffers. He shows how Kushner is the main powerbroker at the White House. Everybody who’s been anybody in this administration has enjoyed Kushner’s blessing, however brief it may have been. Trump does the talking, Kushner takes care of business.

My favorite section of the book is on the campaign debate preparations! “Donald was not a mock debate guy,” Christie says. But he came to his senses after the Billy Bush Access Hollywood tape was released. The drama was intense, easy binge listening.

Christie explains why he believes there was no criminal conspiracy with the Russians. Sure, that’s the part everybody's focused on, but it wasn’t climactic for me. No new info on that. The performance makes this a great book, in my opinion.

A study in cognitive dissonance

Well performed by the author revealing an interesting history of his political career with the exception of his complete cognitive dissonance with respect to the Trump presidency.

Refreshing and Honest Story

This is a good book, honest - all of the range of emotions that one can imagine are well expressed by Gov Christie. I got the book primarily to try and understand why someone like Christie -whom I respect although don't necessarily agree with politically, would ever support Donald Trump. This book was helpful in that regard. Absolutely worthwhile read.

How can a smart man be so dumb?

Christie needs to read his own book. Throughout he describes a self-centered egomaniac how listens to the wrong people resulting in avoidable catastrophes. After all that he continues to praise Trump.

?

I don't understand how a man of such confessed principals could write what is otherwise an excellent book, without fully addressing the elephant in the room, the Russian threat to our democracy, the election meddling, multiple indictments of people surrounding the president, presidential lies. NATO, MbS.... I like Christie and he has written a book that is hard to put down. However, I can't understand how he addresses so many other issues in such detail, while sticking his head in the ground on perhaps the nations most important issue. With all that being said, I still might vote for him if he's ... Not Finished Yet.

Interesting and fast paced

I listened to this audible book everyday until I finished because I found Christie’s view point refreshing. While I do not agree with him politically, I appreciate his forthright approach. I also like that he was the speaker for his own book. This book is more about his life and what that journey has been for him.

Good information, curious and the Governor.

I am a Jersey guy, and I really liked this audible book. I always supported the governor. I didn’t think he deserved the low rating he got at the end of his term. There really isn’t no Trump bashing in the book, which is a good thing these days. I would recommend this book.

Interesting, Insightful and Inspiring

I read this book because I have been interested in Chris Christy since he became Governor of New Jersey and was somewhat perplexed when he endorsed Trump for President. I have followed Christy through his public ups and downs in the Trump camp and have listened to him closely on ABC News. So when this book came out I was eager to read Christy’s take on Trump. To that end, I respectfully got what I needed to help me understand Trump more. I respect The Governor and even though I voted for Hilary Clinton, hope and pray that IF Donald Trump is re-elected, that Chris Christy will be his Vice President in a Trump second term., and then The Presidency. The USA needs a man like The Governor.
