Ruby Stanton’s senior year in high school should have been magical, with young romance. However, what she wants might not be attainable, and her parents' divorce has added to the burden.

So does Anita. What did she know about being single anymore? The dating scene isn’t what it used to be. Bennie was the only man she felt comfortable around, and he’d left her for a twenty-something homewrecker. Not that Anita would take him back…would she?

Bennie’s new life–new wife was a huge mistake. She’d already left him for greener pastures, and Bennie longed for the life he’d thrown away with Anita and Ruby. He hoped Anita and Ruby would have forgiveness for taking him back.

Joe Whitburn doubts everything about teaching school in a small town with few opportunities to make more money. On the other hand, his wife Michele loves everything about being a teacher and even takes night classes to further her education.

In addition to his mundane job, he must deal with a demanding mother who wouldn’t be happy with him if he moved away.
Michele Whitburn loves her husband and wishes he were content. Things change over the school year, bringing hope to the young couple.

Loss, love, and forgiveness fill the year as both families emerge with resolutions.
